RE: Is The Philosopher Stoned?: UC Berkeley Instructor spouts off about rural Americans

in #informationwar5 years ago

He isn't all wrong; right rural health care should be expensive due to the logistics of providing healthcare to so few people.

But clearly he sports an elitist attitude likely due to his taxpayer and student paid bloated income due to his narcissistic logorrhea while he makes fun of those who get up at 5am, do 14 hours of work, and still come out in debt after govt aid. Being from Berkeley, he probably knows that animal farming is coming to a lab and he probably hates rural America because of MAGA, Monsanto (round up), pesticides, fertilizers. He probably doesn't realize something still has to provide nourishment for the meat grown in bioreactors unless he is an active investor. There is a chance he grew up on a farm, and has resentment towards his parents and his childhood and it is his way of venting his spleen but I am not going to attempt to psychoanalyze him.

A degree in philosophy doesn't mean intelligence, but certainly there have been many great intellectuals who studied philosophy. Since he is teaching at a university, I will assume he is brighter than most who study that field even if he is still an idiot at this point in life. It is easy to get lost in the ideals of how things should be to live the easy life especially if your are smart and keep being told that, and he's probably one of the lucky ones who did everything right but, unlike many, got onto easy street. Maybe he was born a silver spoon too-Who can seriously afford a masters or a phd in philosophy except those with exceptional access to wealth or lines of credit. Anyways, he's developed a toxic holier than thou attitude.

He likely hasn't had to deal with the reality of life that isn't fair, venting of the spleen exception aside. He is young and intoxicated with the city-that certainly has a lot to offer-and financial success. But despite all of the cities offerings, he has contributed nothing to it aside from tax revenue and probably doesn't have any ability to advance mankind himself. If he is teaching at a university at his age, then he is nothing but a welfare queen with no real world experience laughing at all the people who pay and ultimately feed him.

I don't know if he has tenure, but if he ends up getting fired then has to settle bagging groceries or pushing carts like most philosophy majors, or thrown into the judicial machinery to purge "unwanted people" from their communities then he might want to explore the concept of freedom and reconsider his position about how great city life is. The good parts of the city like he is accustomed to is achieved mostly through involuntary human sacrifices-and I am not speaking of taxes here.

At that point to get away from the corruption, to have what he needs, to avoid debts, to have true freedom, the road will ultimately point to what he hates-the country. It needs not be in the USA, but anywhere in the world to live off of the fat of the land. The United states presently isn't very healthy for most people, especially farmers-But the USA offers so many rewards to some of the worst and laziest people this country has to offer. As a result some of dumbest people are sitting in public offices, sitting on the bench, and teaching our youths across the country.
