Tommy Robinson & the end of Rule of Law in the UK
The Day Rule of Law died in the UK.
- Journalist is arrested for filming outside a Court House while a trial of alleged child pedophiles (all of whom are Muslim) was delivering its verdict.
- Journalist deprived of access to his lawyer.
- Judge tries and sentences journalist to 13 months prison.
- Journalist sent to prison.
- Judge puts gag order on the whole thing.
All within 24 hours!
I understand from a source with personal knowledge of the case that the Judge has purportedly exercised his "contempt of Court" powers (which give Judges extraordinary power inside a Court room during a trial). This is how he avoided the normal judicial process.
However in this case:
- the journalist never entered the Court room or even the Court building;
- the trial was over as the jury had delivered its verdict and sentencing was at a later time.
The massive broadening of draconian contempt of Court powers by their use outside of a Court, after the trial represents the end of freedom, justice and rule of law in the UK.
If Judges can summarily imprison anyone, any time for anything they don't like without access to a lawyer, being given time to prepare a defence or being given a fair trial (before a different Judge from the one who had you arrested) then no one is safe!
They can lock you away for nothing and then prevent anyone knowing about it.
Welcome to Saddam Hussien's Iraq or current Iran.
A very sad day for Britain.
