Pandanus - Introduction to One of the Unique Scented Plants in Asia
Pandan (Pandanus) is a plant that has a sweet aroma and various benefits. It has spiky leaves in round fan-shaped bunches. Its grow in tropical climate environment. In Indonesia, pandan commonly only have leaves. There are pandan that can bear fruits but it rarely found.
Pandan widely used in South and Southeast Asian cuisines. Although it is often used for cooking, the leaves are not eaten directly. For the example, when cook rice we can put two or three leaves to make rice smell sweet.
Pandan leaves can be consumed directly when they have undergone certain processing. The most common process is to turn it into powder. Some company turn Pandan into pasta.
There are some benefit from Pandan other than for culinary uses. Pandan is also used in baking as a substitute for vanilla. Some country use it for medical purpose.
Where do you find pandan for sale? In Southeast Asian, people sell Pandan leaves in local market for culinary purpose. If you want find Pandan for your garden, just find it on plant store.
