Hi Steemit!

As I sit here, reflecting on the world around me, I'm not reminded of the eternal debate: old vs new. What's better, the tried and tested ways of our ancestors or the innovative, cutting edge solutions of today? Growing up, I loved hearing my grandma's stories about the past. She'd talk about family gatherings, traditional cooking, and the simplicity of life.
Those moments were special, and they've shaped me into the person I am today.

My childhood Memories

I remember spending hours with my grandma, listening to her stories and learning traditional skills like cooking and crafting. She'd spend hours in the kitchen, making delicious meals from scratch. Those moments were more than than just meals. They were opportunities to connect, to bond, and to create lasting memories. As I grew older, I began to appreciate the value of these traditions and the importance of preserving them.

The value of Tradition

For me, tradition is about more than just nostalgia; it's about timeless values and principles that have guided our ancestors for generations. It's about community, family, and love. It's about the simple things in life that bring us joy and fulfillment. When I think about the past, I'm reminded of the importance of preserving these traditions and passing them down to future generations.

The Benefits of innovation

However, as I've grown older, I've also come to realize the importance of innovation and progress. New ideas and technologies have the power to transform our lives and make them easier, more convenient, and more enjoyable. From smartphones to social media, these innovations have opened up new opportunities and possibilities. They've connected us across the globe and provided us with access to information and resources that were previously unimaginable.

Finding a Balance

So, how do we find a book between preserving the past and embracing the future? For me, it's about being mindful of the benefits and drawbacks of both traditions and innovation. It's about appropriate the timeless values of the past while embracing the opportunities of the future. It's about finding ways to preserve traditional practices and skills while also leveraging new technologies and ideas to improve our lives.

My Take on Old vs New
For me, the old vs new debate is personal, I've seen how traditional values and practices have shaped my family and community. At the same time, I've witnessed the impact of innovation and technology on our lives. I believe that both have their place, and finding a balance is key.

Things I Miss from the Past
There are many things I miss about the past. Some of my y favorite include:

These moments were meaningful, and I feel like we've lost some of that magic in today's fast paced world.

Why I Think "Old is Gold"

To me, "old is gold" means that traditional values and practices have lasting value. It's about appreciating the timeless principles that have guided our ancestors and incorporating them into our modern lives. Some of the old values I cherish include:

📝Family and community ties
📝Hard work and dedication
📝Respect for elders and tradition
📝Simple, meaningful living

These values are worth preserving, and I believe they can help us build stronger, more compassionate communities.

Why Change is Necessary
At the same time, I believe that change is necessary for progress. New ideas, technologies, and innovations can.

📝Improve access to education and healthcare
📝Foster global understanding and collaboration
📝Develop sustainable solutions to pressing environment challenges
📝Promote inclusivity and diversity

Q1 Share the things that you believe were best in the past, but now have been changed.

For me, it's the simplicity of life. I miss the days when people would engage in meaningful conversations, listen actively, and respond thoughtfully. With the rise of social media, we've traded depth for breadth, and our interactions have become more superficial. I'd love to see a resurgence of genuine, face to face connections.

So you farm?

I enjoyed reading the old vs new debate. Fills me with nostalgia.

You have shared your experience with your grandma. I agree with you that grandmas tell the best stories. They have their way of making us (grandkids) happy with their special foods, advices and treats.

You've also mentioned that you miss the old ways. I don't think I miss the old ways that much. Particularly when we consider how tedious it was too make pounded yam, process garri or manage our gardens.

Or getting stuck with traditional jobs and less pay.

Right now, it takes less than an hour to make most traditional homemade meals. I just need a cooker, blender/pounder or half-processed product to get lunch ready.

Then, I can interact with anyone in the world from my bedroom.

This gives me more time to do more productive stuff like Steem, work and spend time with the little ones.

Like you have pointed out, the debate about the old vs new is complex. We just need a middle point to strike the balance.

Thank you for the invite. Wishing you all the best in the contest.
