On May 19, 2003, President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri announced a military emergency operation in Aceh. The operation, also called "Integrated Operations", is the Government of Indonesia's ultimatum operation to the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in Aceh. At that time, more than 30,000 Indonesian troops (TNI) and some 12,000 police were deployed to Aceh to quell the GAM rebellion.

Since Megawati's president declared a Military Emergency in Aceh, Musa AM immediately gave an ultimatum to his soldiers gathering at headquarters. For him, he was used to the war, but after the emergence of Military Emergency, then the battle will be more happening again.

For Ex-Combatants, it was their last day together with their children and wives. The reason, thousands of soldiers of the Republic of Indonesia will meet forests, valleys, roads and rivers to quell GAM.

Here's a little bit of the story of the journey of Musa AM, an ex-GAM combatant in this Novel "SANG KOMBATAN". This real story has been summarized and written by Murdani Abdullah. Musa AM is a young man from North Aceh who became the main character in this story. Prior to joining GAM members, Musa had a chance to study at Gajah Mada University in Jogjakarta. While there, he also met and often shared stories with students from Papua and East Timor who were also in conflict.

For him, the commitment to join the GAM forces was his personal conscience in order to defend his dignity as a people of Aceh. However, Musa AM is actually a typical peace-loving one. Because no one wants the war to happen, either from the Government of Indonesia or from GAM itself. What is interesting in this story is that there are three elements of positive motivation contained in this book, which is between war, love and ideology.

I am among those who are late aware of the grandeur of Aceh's history, so since the last few days, I have been trying to find various sources of reference about Aceh. And as it turns out, what I found Aceh is really a very noble nation on earth.

Hopefully the presence of Sang Kombatan's book can add to the wealth of knowledge.

The history of Aceh's resistance is never ending to be written. From colonial times to prolonged conflict. There we will find love, struggle, pain and tears.

I'm sure, the book of the Combatants can give a new color for everyone to see Aceh.

Congratulations

Aceh's history is always interesting to review and explain. Aceh, Nation with great civilization. I am proud of the presence of young writers to record every thing related to Aceh, so that later reference to Aceh more and more.

Kisah ini layak di filmkan. Jangan lupa singgah di blog saya.
