Investigation - The Sexual Abuse of Children in Custodial Institutions - Public Hearing - Day 5
Well done, we have made it through the first week of evidence. I'm not exactly surprised at the ineptitude shown yet again by all of the services involved in "child welfare". I mean they all get their wages at the end of the day and some of those figures are astronomical, more than most of the victims would see in a lifetime. But with all this privilege and responsibility, they continue to make the same "mistakes" as those who took to the stage for all of the previous case studies in this public inquiry. Whether it has been online abuse, abuse within the church or abuse carried out within the custodial institutions of "Great" Britain, the story is the same. At best it is a case of irresponsibility, maybe caused by the fact that they have no control of the situation, and at worst this is a demonstration of what happens when you allow paedophiles to run the very systems that are there to protect children. My bet is on the latter...
One statement that stuck out from yesterdays hearing was when a public servant stated that "it is common that victims were reluctant to come forward and this is one reason we can't help".... After he was pressed further to explain his answer, he said that the victims had often come forward in their younger years, normally when the very first abuses took place. Due to the majority of these "complaints" being either ignored or the information taken straight to the accused, this would obviously have the effect of silence and then when this "civil servant" explained how drawn out the complaints procedure still is and how it is stacked in the favour of being suspicious of the victim, you can see why we are in the sorry state we are all in today.
