REMME leveraging on blockchain to provide optimum password security

REMME is building a unique open source protocol to secure access to digital identities. This will make authentication process without password at the same time making it safe and secured.

What is REMME?
REMME aims to use blockchain tehnology to create a future where password authentication will no longer be needed to secure passage.
This technology is based on an open source distributed public key infrastructure (PKI) protocol which is combined with a set of Decentralized Apps (DApps) which provides a secure and safe. A public key infrastructure (PKI) is a set of policies, roles, and procedures needed to create, manage, distribute, store, use, and revoke digital certificates and manage public-key encryption. PKI and DApps are built on the bitcoin protocol which provides a secure, password-free access to virtually anything.

REMME platform is built with the integration of system properties such as REMME Core, Oracle, client software, and bitcoin anchoring.

REMME Solution
If there is a solution, then it means there is a problem in which to apply the solution. REMME plans to solve the problem with password based authentication. As earlier discussed, password based authentication aren’t perfect. If user password is compromised, the attacker gain access into all data. This might give an access to a lot of resources as some users use the same password for multiple resources and some hackers know how to find their way around this.
Password managers has come up with a lot of solutions to make password authentication much more secured. They came up with Two Factor Authentication (2FA) system which also protects user logins better than a single password. Others includes; one-time passwords (via SMS), hardware tokens, SSL/TLS certificates and other authorization methods.

However, there is a problem with all these methods as they are tied to a single root and affiliated certification centers. Once this root is compromised, then the entire system loses its efficiency and users are open to risk. There have been reported cases of 2FA codes not working or one-time codes not being sent.

The REMME solution is to eradicate the use of password. How do they plan to achieve this?

REMME PKI Protocol

REMME solve the problem in today’s centralized PKI systems using bitcoin protocol. The PKI system uses a custom blockchain with bitcoin anchoring. This is powered by nodes which guarantees the stability of the system. Essentially, REMME takes advantage of the bitcoin protocol for identity authentication. The platform uses the bitcoin protocol’s existing functions to provide secure authentication.

This protocol is shared as an open source code; this gives everyone the ability to use it to build their own DApps on the REMME blockchain.

REMME DApps

REMME DApps is going to be built on the REMME blockchain. Proposed DApps include;

REMME for IoT: REMME has developed a secure automation protection by the use of Internet of Things. This can authorize a device to device communication. This is a priority as stated in the whitepaper
REMME SDK: this provides access to PKI protocol, which allows developers the chance to create their own DApps on the blockchain
REMME Enterprise: Provides secure access to internal corporate systems, like SCADA and Microsoft Active Directory.
REMME WebAuth (White Label Authentication): this allows users to log into websites without a password.
