Do anyone know why ?

Greenland

According to some sources , The naming of Greenland was first named by Eric The Red. Eric and his family are from Norway. But Eric and his family had to leave Norway when his father was accused of being a murderer. Then they settled in Iceland. All went well until Eric got involved in some disputes with some people who eventually got killed by Eric. Eric was expelled and exiled from Iceland for 3 years.

Eric also spent three years of exile by exploring the unknown land around the Iceland. After 3 years, he returned to Iceland. On returning, he recounts and convinces people about the discovery of the land - the land. Eric also named one such land as "Greenland." According to Eric, naming Greenland aims to make people who live in Iceland have a view that the land is a land of prosperity and comfort as heaven. He also managed to persuade people to move to Greenland and settled there.

How about Iceland ?

Iceland is named by Floki Vilgeroarson. Just like Eric, he was from Norway. He left Norway after hearing rumors about a promising land near Norway. So, he took his family and friends to find the land.

Unfortunately, during the journey a lot of sorrow that happened like his sister who died from drowning near Shetland Island, and there is also another sister who decided not to come again looking for the land and choose to marry in the Faroe Islands.
Floki was still eager to find the land. But he has a big problem while resting the Faroe Islands. The problem is, he is confused where to go.

He also decided to take three crows during his journey and release them while hoping that one of the releasing crows would provide the right direction. The first bird flies back to the Faroe Islands, the second bird flies and returns to the ship, and finally the third lucky bird flies to the northwest and never returns to the ship.

Floki feels this is a good sign and he believes there is a land here. His predictions were correct, he found land in the middle of summer, a beautiful island, and very calm. Then where did Iceland come from? So after anchored on the island, Floki waited for spring while climbing the mountain near where their camping group was. Then he saw a Fjord (a kind of iceberg but not tall) covered by ice. Well because he saw it eventually he decided to name the island as Iceland or Iceland
