Growing Hydroponic Tomatoes is not a Crime

For the last few years, I have been growing vegetables with a hydroponic garden. It started largely as an experiment to try and solve a few problems that I had. One being poor soil quality. And for as long as I have been doing it and telling people about it, it never ceases to amaze me that whenever I mentioned that I have a hydroponic garden, the first thing that almost everybody asks is "What... are you growing pot, Steve?" Of course they asked that question with a smirk on their faces, because people who know me know that I would not be involved in something like that.

It is true that hydroponics is often used by growers of marijuana, however, that is a stereotype. It was not invented for that purpose. As a matter of fact the technology has its beginning many thousands of years ago in ancient Babylon for its hanging gardens. It was also used in the floating gardens to grow flowers before the temples of the Aztec empire in now Mexico City. The technology has even been pioneered by NASA as a way to produce food in space. Today hydroponics is used in large commercial greenhouses to grow lettuce and other greens for food and profit in places all over the world like New York, the UK, and even in the Falkland Islands. The technology is also used in classrooms as a teaching tool.

Personally, I have used hydroponics to grow a variety of vegetables. Not Weed! For instance, I have grown cherry tomatoes, asian longbeans, cucumbers, jalapenos, bell peppers, and cayenne peppers. All legal! Soon I will be implementing a new system that I have devised to grow romaine lettuce, which grows really well in hydroponic growing systems. I have found that the technology is easy to understand and implement as it doesn't require specialized knowledge, like many people mistakenly think.
