Let your deck grow slowly and steadily - without using banknotes
Today I was looking at my summoners again, to what extent a level increase is worthwhile. I am now completely in level 2 and have exhausted most monsters, as far as the playable levels are concerned (more about that when we look at Alric Stormbringer).
Summoners are comparatively expensive, and so it has to be well considered to invest there. At the end of the day, it's no use having a summoner in the next level if you don't have any cards in that level yet. But leveling up the cards won't help if you don't have the right summoner yet.
So it's worth selling all cards that don't fit into your concept directly and only collecting those won cards from the Reward Edition of one or more splinters that you prefer to play with. In between you can get the corresponding Summoner in the market. But I am going to take some more time for that, as you will see below.
I don't want to take my Alric Stormbringer Alpha (top left) to the next level at the moment, because it's even more expensive than the Beta Edition. (I'll come back to this at the end with an overview.) When I recently found a nice comment from @ikrahch below our last blog article [1], I delegated my Alric Stormbringer beta to her, so that it doesn't lie around unused. A level increase would therefore have no immediate value, since the card would only have to cool down first when I fetched it back.
And even if I did, I would only have a single card in a higher level (Sea Monster, see below), which would be of little use. (I've hidden the rare cards here, because I'll get to that in a moment.)
The least I could do would be to get some Sea Genie cards first...
... and maybe even two Ruler of the Seas, so that the Summoner in Level 3 really gets through, because that Summoner would already be able to summon this heavyweight (see stats table from Alric Stormbringer farther below).
But then I noticed the stats table of the epic Xia Seachan! Just like the epic Daria Dragonscale (the only Summoner from the Reward Edition so far), it is not only capable to summon common level 2 cards being in level 1 itself (which makes it especially interesting for beginners!), but in Level 2 it is also capable to summon rare Level 3 monsters! To make this easy to understand, I have pictured both summoners here together with Alric Stormbringer. I marked the level for rare monsters, while the summoner is in level 2:
When I saw this, I took a closer look at the corresponding monster cards and without hesitation got hold of the necessary cards to bring them into level 3. (I couldn't take a picture of the cards in level 2 anymore, what has been the reason to hide them for the picture above.)
That is a strong team! The summoner Xia Seachan is especially effective with the rule set "Silenced Summoners" or when used with little or no magic, e.g. when the opponent is expected to reflect magic.
These three cards are already extremely useful in level 3 without Alric Stormbringer, as you will be able to see right away in battle. But they are all the more useful when I finally take that Alric Stormbringer to the next level.
But before I do, I will take a look at the other splinters from the same point of view. I can either use them with Daria Dragonscale for now or get some more epic summoners. This will allow me to continue to complete the daily quests, while I will continue to advance in leagues, before taking care of the rare summoner.
The epic summoners are (still) comparatively inexpensive, as they are not in demand as often as the rare summoners included in the starter pack.
The following view will reveal some astounding values if we look at the development of prices in 4 to 12 months.
And now enough of all the words! Here you can have a look at the fight already mentioned in the pre-previous picture. Note the infamous, epic Air Elemental in level 2 with 3 ranged compared to the rare Water Elemental in level 3 also with 3 ranged! As well as my own, rare, powerful Frozen Soldier in level 3 in action against the equally infamous, rare Silverschield Paladin in level 2! :-)

Now I hope you enjoyed this very detailed excursion into the numbers game of Splinterlands. It was more work than I wanted to do at first. But now it's done.
If you want more, please have a look at our latest summary [2].
See you soon!

You're welcome
I love your analysis. I've always wanted to up my summoners so that they can summon higher level monsters.
I'm a player who can't invest any sort of money in games because I may have to wind up my Cryptos business any moment.
PS: Indian government is after banning Cryptos across India and making it a punishable offense. It may come to effect any time.

Thanks for stopping by, @blog-beginner!
PS: I think anybody who is into crypto can relate to what you say, no matter what nation state you can think of. Isn't this kind of a game as well? Those "government" become and stay "rich" by inventing reasons to punish other people on their behalf. That's what the British Empire's wealth was based on from the beginning - and they spread not only to India but to the Indians as well. (See https://schoolingtheworld.org by Carol Black). And it is not crypto alone. It is everywhere. Lets take road construction: You pay, they drive fast and create through traffic, neighborhoods deprave, and you still gonna pay for every pothole.
I can not think of a better idea other then spread the word, for them to drop their gun: Taxation is theft. Is it not? Read Lysander Spooner! And don't forget... "Time is on the side of truth." - Ezra Taft Benson
Steem on! Take care! Alle the best to you and your family!! Oh, I let myself get carried away. Let's play the Splinterlands! Again, thanks for stopping by! :-D
