So interesting that you touched on grains. They are such a huge part of the food sources for Most of the world. Most gardens really don't have the space for growing them on a scale that would be of much use, so I guess that's why we turn to potatoes and sweet potato for that carbohydrate filler. They are also much less time consuming to prepare than grains.

In school we did a project growing wheat in the school field. We harvested and prepared it in the way they would have before machinery. It was certainly a communal job.
