Someone Gets A Snow Day (And It's NOT Me) & The Indoor Jungle Re-Organization

Just when I thought Mother Nature was calming down and spring could be just around the corner... this is what we got last night- 6 inches of heavy snow!

Branches are so weighed down with this wet snow that I was actually worried a few trees out back would tip, break or tumble over.

Some of the trees behind our house along the western property edge stand well over 100 feet tall and when the wind blows and the tree tops sway, I tend to get nervous. One good wind with the weight of this snow... and yeah... Hasta LaVista Golden D Homestead

On the positive side... someone gets a snow day in bed. She won't even leave it for twenty seconds so I can fix the sheets and comforter. She's had a rough day so far.

Re-Organization Of The Indoor Grow Tent

jungle 2.jpg

BEFORE Picture- While the snow fell and the dog took her day off, I set to finishing the organization of the grow tent in the kitchen. I had so many seedlings to transplant to larger containers/cups, to move from the dark, warm area into a daylight set-up and I had to tame the tomato plants a little.

IN BETWEEN Picture- From the other day when I started the transplanting of some seedlings

AFTER Picture- Everything is more settled in, plants have been moved around for more space and it looks MUCH better now

A new tomato blossom has developed and I am keeping count- so far I have six blossoms! Here's to future BLT's in our life for lunch!

is this weather something new for you?
Last year at this time we had green gras everywhere, but this year it's snowing all February. And it looks like the snow is going to be here for a while.

Oh heavens no.. been living here all my life. But after having a nice week of 50-degree days I got spoiled.
The year my oldest daughter was born (she was born May 9 1989) we had snow on the ground May 7/8.

I'm just anxious for spring to arrive this year is all and I was sad to see all this snow.

I know what you mean - I'm waiting for the spring as well. We live by the Gulf of Riga AND IT'S FROZEN UP!!!

It's exciting watching the flowers come on the tomatoes lol. I've just done a post on the other end as I'm harvesting my crops now and starting to think about autumn planting for winter. It's so satisfying eating your own veges! It won't be long till you get planting outside but it looks like you've had a setback with all that snow.

I know. I can't wait to see how many of the six blossoms develop into tomatoes. Hubby has been peeking in the tent and he keeps saying.. "WOW! You can grow tomatoes and all this in the house?" lol- yup! I sure can!

Last year I moved most of it out to the greenhouse in late April. In-ground planting was last weekend of May.

oh right still a way to go then - I'm going to start planting more onions, broccoli and maybe carrots for a winter crop. I might put more cauli in also as the price here is rediculous atm - It over $10 a head!!!!!

OMGosh!!! That's outrageous!
I was just reading an article the other day about growing cauliflower in containers and may have to give it a try this year. I love steamed cauliflower with a little salt and pepper!

I've given up eating potatoes so I used cauli instead so the price is awful for me lol - I have some growing but none ready yet

We're getting chunks of ice falling from the trees as they melt. This morning was grey and ugly, but now the sun is out and it's looking like spring again. I miss the 60 degrees from yesterday. @ironshield

Same here- sun out and snow melting away so quick! If I took a picture of the same woods now, the snow is almost gone... thankfully! I am SO ready for spring and gardening time!

Haha your doggo though! I have two that have been refusing to leave the bed for days because of the rain. The struggle is real. 🤣

Yeah...I KNOW! When we have rain she pouts! It's kind of sad but she really gets depressed when the weather is wet and she can't go outside. She's like the neighborhood warden; she keeps track of everything and is so nosey- she sits at the front window of my office and watches EVERYTHING!

Mine too lol! They love being outside and surveilling our neighborhood. It's the sadest thing ever when they haven't realized the weather is bad and get all excited running to the door, only to have their hopes and dreams smashed when it opens. They always gives me this look like, "MAKE IT STOP!" before making a beeline back to the bed. 😂

You should know there is NO rest for the wicked! hehehehe no really. That looks really great and I would bet the plants appreciated it!

Oh my, that snow looks daunting! Yikes. Although as you said, it gave you a valuable opportunity to re-group and replant! Looks wonderful. And yes, blossoms on the tomatos...they'll be here before you know it!

How cool! You've really got a green thumb. Those plants look good and healthy. Will you transplant them outside or keep them in containers inside? Because, um, it looks way too cold to take them out now!

We got snow as well. It looks so pretty when it's fresh and heavy on the trees but still ...enough is enough! :)

I bet it smells really good in your grow tent. I could use some of that garden smell in my life.

Oh yes! The joys of late winter, early spring when all you want is a bit of sunshine and a gentle breeze and you get a blizzard!

Oh wow isn't your tent doing well!

I could have done with one of them before the snow hit.

Do you ever get Owls in those trees? They look so majestic in the snow
