LEGALLY SPEAKING ...

On 26th March 2015, the UK Department of Health published its Report on the Regulation of Herbal Medicines, authored by Professor David Walker.

It is summed up: –
‘Having taken into account the evidence available and the views of representatives of the sector, I consider that despite strong calls by many for statutory regulation, there is not yet a credible scientific evidence base to demonstrate risk from both products and practitioners which would support this step.’

Upon further research…
…” most commonly reported reasons for using traditional and complementary/alternative medicine are that it is more affordable, more closely corresponds to the patient's ideology, and is less paternalistic than allopathic medicine. Regardless of why an individual uses it, traditional and complementary/alternative medicine provides an important health care service to persons both with and without geographic or financial access to allopathic medicine.”

This effectively puts the whole issue of the statutory regulation of herbal medicine ‘on ice’ for the foreseeable future. Hooray! A victory for clear thinking, common sense and the precautionary principle. Let’s hope this is the end of the top-down dictatorial bureaucracy that has plagued herbal medicine for so long, and heralds a new era for the grass-roots approach to holistic care. Hoping things will continue to move in the favor of our access to plant medicines! Wouldn’t plant remedies be a nice introduction into Science curriculums everywhere! Let us help you to ##BE INDEPENDENTLY HEALTHY## @herbsholistics
YES~"WE ARE ALLOWED"...until further notice :)
