AC to DC LED light modification. Replacing low quality hawker lights with good quality parts.
Assalamu alaikum Everyone. I am @imranhassan From #Bangladesh
A few days ago, a shopkeeper next to my factory gave me an AC to DC light to repair and he told me that he bought it from the hawkers for 100 taka and it lasts for a maximum of three days, then this light is no longer working so I should repair it again.
Then I offered the shopkeeper that there is no guarantee on the goods bought from the hawkers and they make flights with low quality goods so I cannot fix this light. And I gave the shopkeeper a condition that if you let me fix it the way I want, then I can fix it and it will cost 250 taka in Bengali taka. Then the shopkeeper agreed and I gave the LED light a new life again so let's start how we did it.
Step -01
The LED light that you can see in my hand now is purchased for 100 Bangladeshi taka and it is a very low quality light bought from hawkers. In the current Bangladeshi market, a three point seven bolt lithium battery costs 120 taka.
Step -02
Now I have removed the light body cover, and you can see the SMD LED inside and an old battery from a broken mobile phone. These batteries are bought from a discarded place and sold for 10 taka. And the SMD LED that you can see here is not used here; no capacitor, no filtering, no coil. The battery is charged directly through the 220-volt input voltage and runs live; only some small ICs and components are there.
Step -03
Now the SMD LED that you can see in my hand is purchased new from the market. Its Bangladeshi market price is 30 taka and it is powered by three wires. I will show you step by step how to connect it.
Step -04
Now the circuit that you can see in my hand is made to run this LED and there are three capacitors here one capacitor makes 220 volts voltage and two more capacitors filter when the 15 watt LED is running and another capacitor filters when the DC 5 volts light is running.
Step -05
Now you can see that I will collect only the plastic bodies of the old LED lights and I will throw away the remaining lights and batteries and I have shown them with a cross here and I will show what I will use in the next step.
Step -06
Now you can see that I have taken the complete setup to modify this light because I will not do any repairs here I will make it completely again. I spent two hundred taka to buy SMD LED and driver circuit and lithium ion 3.7 volt battery in Bangladeshi market price. The battery cost 100 taka and the light and circuit cost 100 taka.
Step -07
Now I have to make a connection to take the output from the battery so I have taken a clip here to connect the battery negative and positive.
Step -08
Now you can see that I am giving the input voltage connection of the circuit to the connection of the light holder of 220 volts input voltage.
Step -09
Now I will connect the battery to the circuit so before connecting the battery I checked the connection that I made with the digital multimeter to see if the output is correct and the output is correct.
Step -10
Now you can see that after connecting the circuit and connecting the battery I have given the connection of the SMD LED and here the DC light is shining with the help of my hand.
Step -11
Now I will replace the battery inside and replace the circuit so that they do not move so I have stuck them with tie clips so that they can sit nicely inside the cover.
Step -12
After replacing the circuit and battery inside, I placed the SMD LED light body on top and you can see the connection here, how I connected it and to understand it better, you can watch the video below.
Step -13
After fitting the complete light driver circuit, battery, SMD LED, everything, you can see that this AC to DC charger light is now fully fitted and the DC password light is glowing with the help of my hand through earthing.
Step -14
Now finally I tested it with 220 volt AC input voltage and my DC 5 volt connection is also working and 220 volt AC 15 watt connection is working now the light is completely fine.
Step -15
Now you can see that a hawker in the market sells a Bangladeshi light at a price of 100 taka, I spent 200 taka and now this light will cost 250 taka including my wages and I have given a one-year guarantee on this light. Now the shopkeeper is very happy because this light will light the shop very well and will get a long backup from the battery when load shedding happens.
Step -16
I have modified two lights here at the same time in the same way, and you have seen the functionality and video of one light because the work of the two lights was the same, and I like the work of these lights because when you modify a light, you have to explain to the owner that you have this problem, and to change it and make it look good, you have to replace some good parts. When they understand, I am happy with the work, and I have to take pictures from Google on my mobile and show them that I will make it work like that.
