CORINTHIANS at home? ESQUECE! // LetsGoCORINGATION // TheWorldOfSports
Greetings, coringation travelers!
Last Sunday, on the 19th of January of 2025, the Men's Football Team of Corinthians has played its first official match of the year in our home stadium, the Neo Química Arena, against the squad of Velo Clube, for the São Paulo State's championship of this year, popualrly known as Paulistão 2025, valid for the second round in Groups Phase.
And at home, you should not worry: Corinthians will win! Forget about worrying!!
Esquece is a verb in Portuguese that means to forget. In the context used in the image bellow, posted in the official Corinthians' profile pages, the verb is used in a unique way by Brazilians to imply that you should not worry about the context, thar you are really confident in your or the subject your reffering of's capacity, so you can forget any negative thoughts. The sentence "Em casa, esquece!" means that, "[if the game is] At home, forget [about worrying about it]!" in a free translation.
One more time, I'll be criticizing the Brazilian Football Calendar that is really badly managed. Because the state competitions and the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, popularly known as Copinha and the biggest sub-20 football championship in Brasil, started off really early in the year, making the pre-season really short and, well, not effective.
That's why, once again, the squad alvinegra started the game with a mixed team, and having the usual starting players entering mid-game from the bench. But at least the boys playing on the Copinha won against Vasco da Gama later the same night of this game, and are playing the semis again on the same day as the next match. Corinthians is the biggest Copinha champion.
On our starting game, away on the last round, we witnessed a {Corinthians WIN DE VIRADA](https://steemit.com/hive-199189/@massola/win-on-debut-de-virada-letsgocoringation-theworldofsports), and we hoped this one would be better since we would be playing at home, on the Neo Química Arena.
The game started out really slowly, without any side really taking control of the match. It was in the 22 minutes mark that Igor Coronado started a run with the ball, and was faulted after dribbling past and adversary. Mid distance free kick for Corinthians.
The ball was positioned closer to the east side of the field, some good distance away from the box. Before the shot, our defender André Ramalho was jumping in front of the wall of adversaries, to distract the goalkeeper and disrupt his vision of the ball. It was then that Coronado shot exactly where Ramalho was a fraction of a second befoe. The ball first touched the ground in front of the keeper, and kicked up, tricking him; ball to the back of the net!! Corinthians 1 x 0

Not much happened for the rest of the first half. In the second, we unfortunately had to see another mistake from our defense: after a corner kick, at 67', Daniel Amorim was able to head the ball past our keeper. 1x1
Corinthians even had a penalty kick in our favor before the goal, after a great shot inside the box by André Carrillo, but Ángel Romero missed it. In my opinion, my boy Yuri Alberto should be the one to have the ball in penalty kicks, and he was on the field during the game, and even talked around the ball before his teammate missing...
Minutes later, with the clock ticking at 73, it was again through magic that we achieve our win: after the ball was at his feets during a good attacking position, Talles Mágico shot marvelously past the keeper to his left, really close to the post, making his second goal of the season! Corinthians 2x1

Corinthians, for another time, applied a lot of pressure in the remaining time. Our star Memphis Depay lost some amazing chances, but it was his first game back, and he came off the bench. But we can all agree that it's a great thing to see him running, shooting well and fighting for loose balls from his first minute back on the field after pre-season.
Memphis has stated how happy he is in Corinthians, about the incredible facilities and professionals in the club, and that his mission this year is to take Coringations to the top of a podium, bringing back glory for our club that has last lifted a trophy in 2019. And I believe in him.

Bellow is a lovely photo of our second Manf of the Match of the year in front, the scorer of the free kick that opened the score, Igor Coronado, alongside (from left to right): André Carrillo, Ángel Romero, Yuri Alberto and our defender Felix Torres's son. The photo helped to ease off talks about disagreements between Yuri and Romero after their talk before the penalty kick in the match.
Stats for Coronado during last game, provided by Corinthians aswell:
Today, we continue playing on the Paulistão against the squad from Água Santa, reaching for the unbelievable mark of TWELVE WINS IN A ROW IN BRAZILIAN COMPETITIONS (!), after finishing off last Brasileirão with nine wins in a row and winning the first two games this year!
Also, the Timãozinho faces off against Grêmio on the semifinals of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
