I order my helmsman to adjust our course by 90 degree.
"Prepare the broadside cannons!" I yell to me crew down below.
"AYE AYE CAPTAIN!" they respond in unison. I appreciate efficiency and subservience in me crew.
"Me 'earties! Today is the day we eliminate this scourge from our waters. It has been the bane of many a pirate for centuries past and will continue to be for centuries to come. Now is our chance!"
A rallying cheer can be heard erupting from every member of me crew as they prepare for the epic battle of epic proportions.
"Ready, Capt'n!" me helmsman confirms our placement.
"Well done; now we wait"
Several moments later a large mass can be seen emerging from the waters, right in the spot I had expected. Was this hubris on the part of the monster, or did it not even recognize us as a threat?" No time for questions like this.
The time is now! "OPEN FIRE!!!"
Thirty-three cannons unleash all hell from the broadside of The Maiden's Desire, pounding the Terrorsquid with a volley of iron cannonballs, tearing chunks of flesh from its fleshy body. Clearly not expecting the barrage of pain, the Terrorsquid screeches and begins whipping it's tendrils in distress. The Maiden's Desire be out of reach of the tentacles, at least fer the time being.
Clearly this will require the assistance of me fleetmates.

The Luckless, paddling closer with it's skeleton crew of one, begins to enter the fray. Fighting water and waves from both the Terrorsquid and the chaos that was the fallout of a full broadside from The Maiden's Desire, the captain finally gets close enough for action! Reaching down into the water from the side of his fine vessel, the captain pulls up a tunafish by the tail and, with a mighty heave, pitches it at the Terrorsquid!
The Luckless evades the ensuing chaos of cannonballs and plastic soda can rings, and with his undead strength, Cap'n Boneapart throws the tunafish at the foe. Striking the Terrorsquid with a skele-ton of force behind it, the Squid is momentarily stunned by the tuna attack.
Attack rolled for 3 damage. Terrorsquid currently at 7 HP
Attack rolled for 7 damage. Squid now at 13 health.
Not bad for an opening volley! Maybe this beast be a bit overhyped! Yar har har, the Terrorsquid will fall!

oh no it's like "Stranger Things" which is ripped from H.P. Lovecraft, @reverendrum, pulling up with tons of uncut plastic rings for sodas so they can help trap some of the tentacles

The crew of the Scarlet Reign litters the ocean with plastic soda can holder rings. The Terrorsquid's tentacles get caught in the plastic traps. It lets out a horrific shriek as it realizes it's been disabled. Thrashing harder to get free only traps it further.
