We are of the opinion that it is hard to retain someone in this platform only on the basis of monetary reward(without value addition). It is a social platform in its first place, therefore anyone joining this platform through the BOI community will be be made to understand the idea of a community and how important engagement is, in fostering the sense of community.

I totally agree with this! Those who come here only on the motivation of money from their post reward will not stay long, they need to have that sense of belonging to the community, invest their time and money in it then they will value their stay and become loyal and as part of the community. Then the reward they get here in a sense is just a bonus for them..
I personally don't think we should reward all people that making a post just because they make a post, it should go both ways, both parties giving out value/contributions because if only one party giving out value but the receiver only receives and receive, that I would be called leeching the reward pool and would not be sustainable for a long run, also this user clearly has no intention in being part of steem community.

But you all have a great plan on retaining the reward-driven only users too, the idea on backpackers is great, could be AirBnBs operators in India will start to receive SBD as a payment soon? I think using SBD instead of STEEM as a means for payment is more viable since the value is proportional to USD and not fluctuate too much as compare to Steem..
