BEING TESTED

1 NOW IT CAME TO PASS AFTER THESE THINGS THAT GOD TESTED ABRAHAM, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
2 Then He said, “TAKE NOW YOUR SON, YOUR ONLY SON ISAAC, WHOM YOU LOVE, AND GO TO THE LAND OF Moriah, AND OFFER HIM THERE AS A BURNT OFFERING ON ONE OF THE MOUNTAINS OF WHICH I SHALL TELL YOU.”
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
Genesis 22:1-3 (NKJV)

God has the habit of testing whoever is walking with Him. Your obedience would be tested, likewise your loyalty, your faith and reliability would also be tested. When some people are told that God usually tests whoever claims to be His, it is surprising to them. This attribute of God is found on the pages of the Bible. Our text, Genesis 22:1-3, is one of such passages in the Bible.

Abraham was instructed to go and offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. Remember, at the time of this incident, he had only Isaac left as his biological son—Ishmael had been driven out with his mother (Genesis 21:14). In other words, Isaac was the only son of Abraham at the time: "TAKE NOW YOUR SON, YOUR ONLY SON ISAAC, WHOM YOU LOVE, AND GO TO THE LAND OF MORIAR, AND OFFER HIM THERE AS A BURNT OFFERING ON ONE OF THE MOUNTAINS OF WHICH I SHALL TELL YOU" (Genesis 22:2 NKJV).

It was a real test for Abraham because he waited for twenty-five years before he could receive the child, Isaac, from God (Genesis 12:4; 21:1-5).

If you would be used of God and built intimacy with Him, you would be tested at different junctures in your journey with Him.
Testing whoever is walking with God is not a strange thing and it should not be new to you. The tests that would be brought your way depend on the assignment God has for you, that is, what you are being prepared for.
You would pass through different things based on whatever the purpose or plan of God for your life is; however the test would not be what you cannot handle: "NO TEMPTATION HAS OVERTAKEN YOU EXCEPT SUCH AS IS COMMON TO MAN; BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL, WHO WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE TEMPTED BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE ABLE, BUT WITH THE TEMPTATION WILL ALSO MAKE THE WAY OF ESCAPE, THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BEAR IT" (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV).

Abraham did pass the test and we are learning from the life he lived. What is your life teaching others? And, what would others learn from the life you are living presently after you have completed your journey here on earth?

When a test is permitted or brought on your way, you are expected to pass it. Why because, you have been given enough grace to come out of it victoriously, but if you did fail, sanction or discipline is inevitable. However, you will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace.
