12 THEN HE DREAMED, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13 AND BEHOLD, THE LORD STOOD ABOVE IT AND SAID: “I AM THE LORD GOD OF ABRAHAM YOUR FATHER AND THE GOD OF ISAAC; THE LAND ON WHICH YOU LIE I WILL GIVE TO YOU AND YOUR DESCENDANTS.
14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
15 BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU AND WILL KEEP YOU WHEREVER YOU GO, AND WILL BRING YOU BACK TO THIS LAND; FOR I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU UNTIL I HAVE DONE WHAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU.”
Genesis 28:12–15 (NKJV)

• You are called back to Bethel, the place of encounter: "THEN GOD SAID TO JACOB, “ARISE, GO UP TO BETHEL AND DWELL THERE; AND MAKE AN ALTAR THERE TO GOD, WHO APPEARED TO YOU WHEN YOU FLED FROM THE FACE OF ESAU YOUR BROTHER” (Genesis 35:1 NKJV).

  • One of the main reasons why God is calling Jacob back to Bethel is, He wanted to fulfil His promises in his life: "BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU AND WILL KEEP YOU WHEREVER YOU GO, AND WILL BRING YOU BACK TO THIS LAND [Bethel]; FOR I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU UNTIL I HAVE DONE WHAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU" (Genesis 28:15).
  • Bethel is a place of encounter (Genesis 28:12-15). It is called the house of God, where Jacob had an encounter with God (Genesis 28:17).
  • God has a reason why He did allow you, as a believer in Christ Jesus, to be where you are. He promises to watch over Jacob's movement, likewise you, being a child of destiny—a believer in Christ Jesus.
  • God is interested in the matters of your life, things about you, thus, He is watching over your life. He orders your feet; He knows where you go, knows where you live, or the school you attend, or where you work, and whatever you do.

• God wants to fulfil what He has purposed to do through your life.

  • The assignment He has for you starts with the people around you, in the place where you are—you are there for a purpose. You have assignment to preach the gospel to others, by witnessing to them; verbally and through your character or doings.
  • Someone with a negative character, or one who lives in sins would find it difficult to witness Christ to others. Your attitude towards other people speaks volumes—speaks more of you than whatever you say with your mouth.
  • You also have the responsibility to love others. Know that It is not a mistake or a coincidence that you find yourself where you are; in the neighbourhood you live, and the place where you work.
  • It is not a coincidence that some shared their problems with you, wanted you to counsel them—about the challenges of life they are facing or passing through.
  • God has allowed them to come your way, because He has put something in you to share with them. God Himself has taught you a number of vital things which He wanted you to share with those whom He has allowed their paths to cross yours.
  • Whatever God has taught you through practical experience of life, what you did pass through in your relationship with Him; are meant to be shared with others.

• You are to comfort the hurting with the comfort with which you are comforted by God in your tribulation: "WHO COMFORTS US IN ALL OUR TRIBULATION, THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO COMFORT THOSE WHO ARE IN ANY TROUBLE, WITH THE COMFORT WITH WHICH WE OURSELVES ARE COMFORTED BY GOD" (2 Corinthians 1:4 NKJV).

  • You share with them, your experience in your relationship with Christ Jesus:
    a. Tell them about the goodness and the greatness of God which you had experienced in your journey in life.
    b. Tell them about the challenges you had gone through and how God had helped you to overcome.
  • You are in your locality to bless the people around you, with whatever God has taught you through His Word and the experience of life.
  • Start ministering to people, it is your assignment. Do not push away what the people shared with you that is bothering their hearts. Counsel them and pray with them on it (Philippians 4:9).
  • Those challenges in the life of the people around you, is an assignment for you. You are to attend to the needs and the predicaments of the people, and bring them closer to Jesus. God wants their souls harvested and be reconciled back to Him (2 Corinthians 5:18,19).
  • As all the believers in Christ Jesus had a general assignment, ministry of reconciliation, to witness Christ to the people; there are specific assignments as well, given to some individual believers.

• Specific Assignments.
a. Paul had a specific assignment to the Gentiles, not to the Jews, though he was a Jew (Acts 26:16-20).
b. Jesus’ assignment is also mentioned in this passage—Luke 1:68-75

  • The truth is:
    a. You have an assignment; primarily to your immediate or extended family; as well as your place of work, and the community where you live.
    b. You have an assignments in your local Church; to serve with your time, talents or gifts, and your resources or substances.
  • Your fulfilment and promotion is in the fulfilment of the assignment given to you. Beloved, stay in your place of assignment.
  • Stay and blossom where you are planted by God, you are planted in the the place, church, to work for the growth and enlargement of the Kingdom work in the place.
  • You are to contribute and be part of building the church of Christ. Do not move out of the place of your assignment that you may not lose your relevance.
  • Life is an adventure. Christianity is an adventure. You will have to find out about your assignment and know the actual thing God does want you to do.
  • Do not be idle in the Church of God! You have a mission defined by God, not by qualification, but by election of grace (Romans 9:11). You are called, elected by God, for a purpose (Jeremiah 1:5). You must not disappoint God Who reposes trust in you (2 Timothy 2:4).

• The power to fulfil is released and imparted to you in Jesus' mighty name. And you will not fail in Jesus' name.

  • Whatever is not of God in your body, that might be working against your health and wellness, such is rebuked and uprooted totally in your body, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
  • Your health is restored and you are made whole in Jesus' mighty name.
    Peace!

STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. As you took the steps A and B your name is written in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).

  • If you took the steps As highlighted above, congratulations, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
