GOD'S POWER OR ABILITY 1
“AND YOU SHALL REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD, FOR IT IS HE WHO GIVES YOU POWER TO GET WEALTH, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
• The fallout of every spiritual awakening is a social-economic revolution, as authenticated by the trend of history.
- America experienced it after the healing revival of the thirties. Europe experienced it after Martin Luther's reformation crusade. South Korea also experienced it!
• Mindset of poverty had to be dealt with by the believers: "FOR AS HE THINKS IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE" (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).
- What you cannot see God do in your life, you might not experience it:
31 BUT the men who had gone up with him said, “WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GO UP AGAINST THE PEOPLE, FOR THEY ARE STRONGER THAN WE.” 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); AND WE WERE LIKE GRASSHOPPERS IN OUR OWN SIGHT, AND SO WE WERE IN THEIR SIGHT” (Numbers 13:31-33 NKJV). - Your thinking had to be right and be in line with the Scriptures. You have to know who you are in Christ Jesus, and the knowing comes through the knowledge of the Word of God—the Bible.
- Know that money is not evil, but the love of it is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). God is not against abundance, He blesses those who have proper attitude towards it.
- Poverty is not equal with spirituality. You can live right and make it financially. You are not destined to live in wants all your life.
• The truth is:
- It is God's Will that His children live by His principles, and prosper through it.
- God wants to bless His faithful children in order to finance His work and propagate His Kingdom on earth.
- When believers refused to embrace the Word of God, live in line with the principles in it, they would not experience material prosperity.
- God has a pattern or way which He wanted His children to live their lives that would lead to their material blessings.
- The pattern of the people of the world would not work for the professed Christians:
31 “THEREFORE DO NOT WORRY, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 FOR AFTER ALL THESE THINGS THE GENTILES [unbelievers] SEEK. FOR YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER KNOWS THAT YOU NEED ALL THESE THINGS. 33 BUT SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU. 34 THEREFORE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV).
• Many could not harness the power or ability for abundance through the Word of God, because of Ignorance, Unbelief, and Disobedience.
(a) Ignorance, that is, lack of knowledge; makes someone believes false doctrines—teachings (Hosea 4:6).
(b) Unbelief, lack of faith, hinders from pleasing God (Hebrews 11:6). When you rely or depend on your senses; what you can see or feel physically, it may be difficult for you to agree or cooperate with God on whatever He may want to do through His Word in your life (Hebrews 4:2).
(c) Having the feeling of unworthiness could rob you of your potential blessings as well. If you are not sure that having enough to meet your material needs, prosperity, is of God, and that it is your covenant right as a believer in Christ Jesus. When you listen to those who have loser's mentality, those who are myopic, who could not see God doing great and awesome things in their lives, as promised in His Word:
16 AND WHO WAS IT WHO REBELLED AGAINST GOD, EVEN THOUGH THEY HEARD HIS VOICE? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt? 17 AND WHO MADE GOD ANGRY FOR FORTY YEARS WASN'T IT THE PEOPLE WHO SINNED, WHOSE CORPSES LAY IN THE WILDERNESS? 18 AND TO WHOM WAS GOD SPEAKING when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? WASN'T IT THE PEOPLE WHO DISOBEYED HIM? 19 SO WE SEE THAT BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ENTER HIS REST" (Hebrews 3:16-19 NLT).
(d) Disobedience also would rob you of Kingdom benefits (Isaiah 1:19; Colossians 3:23).
• The people of the world consider wealth to be how much one has acquired in the worldly goods: money, cars, houses, landed properties, and other material things.
- A dictionary defines wealth as possession of a great amount of money, property, that someone owns.
- Whilst the Scripture's definition or understanding of wealth is: the ability or power given by God to do something well.
- The power or the ability given by God would create the physical things that could be seen and be used for the needed purposes: “AND YOU SHALL REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD, FOR IT IS HE WHO GIVES YOU POWER [ability] TO GET WEALTH, THAT HE MAY ESTABLISH HIS COVENANT which He SWORE to your FATHERS, as it is this day" Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV).
- Note: In reality, God does not give wealth, As in doling out physical cash or money. He gives the power or the ability to create or make wealth. Thus, If the power is withdrawn, the wealth is gone!
a. The wealth is given to establish a covenant with God.
b. The ability or power in question, or being talked about, is divine and not natural or physical ability—strength.
c. It is not how muscular you are, in the doing of rigorous or laborious work. There is a limit to what you can achieve or do with your physical strength—human ability (1 Samuel 2:9).
d. The divine ability or power makes the difference. That is where the need for God comes in!
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Whatever is contrary to your health is rebuked and uprooted in Jesus' name.
- You completely made whole in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. Ask that He will write your name in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).
- If you took the steps As highlighted above, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
