The Diary Game: Farming in the Village

in Steem Cameroon22 days ago

Hi there my dear steemians from my favourite community. How is your weekend going? I hope you had a great weekend .Mine was very engaging because I was in the farm. I want to tell you how my Friday was in the village. Follow me, let's go.

Planting season comes with a lot of stress because of series of farm work. It's a planting season since the beginning of the year. Every Friday of every week has been declared a planting day by the Governor of our state. This is to compel everyone, big and small to go back to the farm and plant.

I had gone to the village earlier this year to plant maize. I had wished several time to go back
and complete the weeding that was left but my engagement in the city has been a serious challenge. I summed up courage that this weekend, I shall be in the village to weed like I did last year.

Very early in the morning by 5am, I woke up, said my prayers, and then prepared to leave for my village. My village is a little bit far from the city, so I had to leave early enough so that I can arrive early and have enough time to be in the farm. So by 6am, I left. My place is fifteen kilometer drive from the city. But I arrived by 7.30am.

When I arrived, I changed the cloth I wore to a farm cloth. I started with weeding in the cassava farm. This is a family farm that we entrusted in the hands of a caretaker to monitor for us. It is owned by four of us. We had paid someone to weed for us after planting and some portion was remaining. So I had to weed the remaining portion before the sun becomes angry in the day.

By 12noon, I was tired and needed some rest to regain strength. I relaxed for a while and then took a little food I went with. I didn't want to come back because of transportation fare, so I decided to finish the remaining portion. By 12.50pm, I went back and then finished the remaining part.

Immediately after weeding, I checked on the maize I planted early this year as well. I was so excited to see that my maize had produced corns. Wow! I then harvested the ones that were riped so I could use when I get back to the city.

I was so happy that my effort wasn't in vain. Though it was stressful, the output brings joy. I now looked for a sack and then cut them for consumption. My wife would be happy to see this.

By 4pm, I was through in the farm and was ready to go back to town. Though it took some time so see a tricycle to take me to where I could board a bus to town, I finally arrived Uyo, my residence by 5.30pm. It was a stressed day. When I came back, I immediately took bath to refresh myself and then rested because I was weak, so to say.

When I woke up, it was 6.40pm. I took my dinner anf then watch a movie online with my phone till 8. I got to bed around 9pm and then slept off.

That was hiw my weekend was. I really like farming because it gives me fresh food. It was engaging.

Thank you so very much for visiting my blog and also reading my post. Do have a great time
