On Wednesday morning at Kings and Queens Royal Schools, Uyo, where I have the privilege of teaching an enthusiastic group of primary one pupils. As their teacher, I had planned an engaging lesson on current affairs, focusing on the 36 states of Nigeria, their capitals, slogans, governors, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

As I began the lesson, I could sense the eagerness in the air, children like singing while learning and I used the morning session to prepare them for the next topic on mathematics. Many of them doesn't really like mathematics, hence whenever I want to teach them mathematics I always prepare their minds with what will keep them in a very happy mood.

They were ready to soak up the knowledge like sponges. I started by introducing the concept of states and capitals, using visual aids and interactive maps to make the learning experience more immersive. As the lesson progressed, I was impressed by the students' ability to grasp the information quickly. They were eager to participate, asking questions and sharing their thoughts on the different states and their capitals.

But what happened next left me beaming with pride. At the end of the lesson, I decided to test their knowledge by asking them to recite the 36 states, their capitals, slogans, governors, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. To my amazement, they began to recite the information effortlessly, without any hesitation or prompting.

Their voices filled the classroom, a chorus of confidence and knowledge. I watched in awe as they rattled off the information, It was a great moment of joy that reminded me why I became a teacher in the first place, to inspire and empower young minds.

As I let them rest for the next lesson on Mathematics, I felt grateful to be a part of the Kings and Queens Royal Schools community, where teaching and learning are valued and nurtured. It's moments like these that remind me of the power of education to transform lives and shape the future. And I am honoured to be a small part of that journey.
