This is barely 9 months since I had my first-ever radio interview which was on the 14th April, 2024! It was an exhilarating experience that left me feeling both nervous and thrilled.

As I walked into the "Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation Radio Station", I could feel my heart racing with anticipation. The studio was cozy, with a table, computer connected to mixers, microphones, mic stands and shock mount, two chairs facing a sleek control panel, headphones and a spare chair for my friend who accompanied me to the studio.

Before I fixed my headphone and the presenter's headphone too, the host, a warm and friendly woman by name Itoro Lawrence popularly known as I.T Lawrence, greeted me with a firm handshake and a bright smile. Before we went on air, I.T Lawrence briefed me on what to expect. She explained that the interview would be a casual conversation about my work and interests, and that we would be chatting for about 30 minutes. I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves and focus on the conversation ahead.

As the show began, I.T Lawrence introduced me to the listeners and we launched into our conversation. At first, I was a bit stiff and formal, but as we chatted, I began to relax and open up. We talked about my passion for writing, my favourite writing niche, my photography and printing profession and even shared a few laughs.

One of the highlights of the interview was when I.T Lawrence asked me to share a personal anecdote about my printing journey. I told her about the time I gave my client a wrong quotation (below the cost price) when I newly established my printing business, only to end up using my money to complete the job. But instead of getting discouraged, I used the feedback to sit-up and improve my work.

I.T Lawrence and I had a great laugh about it, and I think the listeners enjoyed it too. Before I knew it, the 30 minutes were up, and I.T Lawrence was thanking me for coming on the show. As I left the studio, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had faced my nerves and come out on top.

The experience taught me that sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to amazing opportunities. And guess what? Since then I've been invited to different radio stations as a guest speaker in different programs!

It was all about my first Radio Interview experience. Thank you for going through my post. Do have a great time ahead.
