MY FIRST HUSTLE EXPERIENCE: HOW IT STARTED
My first hustle wasn’t glamorous at all. It didn’t kick off with a cool logo or a grand plan. It all began with a simple needv— to push myself, to do more, and to prove I could make something happen.
I remember sitting there with beads, string, and no idea how to price my work. I was nervous, wondering if anyone would actually buy what I made or if they’d just laugh. I didn’t have a marketing team; I just had WhatsApp to spread the word. No cash, just creativity and some belief.
I remember getting a customer, a Nollywood actress and I didn't even know how much I was going to charge her for a beaded bag.
That first hustle became more than just a way to make money. It changed how I thought. I learned that I didn’t need everything to be perfect to get started; I just needed to take the plunge. I just needed to start with what I have.
My first sale was to someone I didn’t really know. When I got that notification, something clicked inside me. It was never just about the cash—it was the realization that I could create something real, and others valued it.
When she called that she needed a beaded bag, I was so happy, thrilled and surprised. I just told her to pay anything she deemed fit and it ended so well.
As I moved forward, I stumbled plenty along the way. I priced my work too low and took on too many orders. I struggled to say no. But with every misstep, I picked up a lesson. I improved my skills and my confidence.
That first hustle showed me that waiting for the right moment won’t lead to success. It’s all about putting yourself out there, even when it feels scary or you’re just getting started.
To this day, that passion keeps me going. I am glad I went through it all.
Cheers to more business success, more lessons, less mistakes, plenty of orders, beautiful reviews and every other beautiful thing to come.
We'll all do just fine in our various businesses.
