Greetings Steemit friends,

While on my way back home with a friend, we met one of our classmates from secondary school. We ended up having a long conversation, talking about our school days and sharing updates on where life has taken us since then. It was full of laughter and old memories. After some time, we parted ways and continued our journey home.

But as we walked, I began reflecting on some of the things our classmate had said. Honestly, a lot of it did not add up. There was something empty about his words, the kind of emptiness that leaves you thinking long after the conversation is over.

I always try to pay close attention when someone is speaking, piecing together their words to understand their point. I do this mainly to avoid misinterpreting or assuming the wrong thing, which, as we all know, often causes unnecessary misunderstandings or even conflicts.

You know that feeling when someone talks, and you just can not connect the dots? Too many stories, half-finished thoughts, switching topics too fast. At some point, I was genuinely confused. He even told a story that we were actually part of, but the way he narrated it made it sound completely different. We had to laugh about it.

Sometimes, it is better to think carefully before speaking. You do not always need to talk, especially if you are forcing words just to stay relevant in a conversation. When you do that, it becomes obvious that the tone lacks emotion, and the words feel shallow. I honestly felt a bit bad listening. My friend and I both noticed the gap between what he was saying and the truth we knew.

Like I mentioned earlier, there was no connection. He touched on a lot, but it felt like he said nothing. The moment someone sounds confused in their own words, the people listening start to see them as an “empty vessel.” You can sense when someone is using too many words to cover up fear, yet still struggling to express themselves clearly.

As we drove home, it really got me thinking. Many people fall into this habit of exaggerating or overtalking just to feel seen or important. But it becomes embarrassing when an adult starts inflating information just to impress. I always tell my family, that exaggeration is not so different from lying. If you do not have all the facts, it is better to say nothing. Otherwise, you end up saying a lot, and still leaving people with the feeling that your words are empty.

I like to reflect on how I spend my day. Today started early, as usual. I took my bath, prepared for work, and headed out. Being the first workday of the week, I had to send out emails and notifications to clients. Later, a few young people visited to inquire about our internship program.

For the past couple of months, I have been more selective about the interns I accept. I noticed many of them just want to pass the time and get a signature for school purposes. But now, I want the program to be meaningful to provide real learning and a productive environment.

I asked them to go back and prepare a project idea they would like to work on. Based on those projects, I will select candidates. That way, each person will have something to work toward and achieve. In the past, they would just show up and wait for me to assign tasks. This time, I want them to take the initiative and present their work at the end of the program.

Surprisingly, one of my old classmates showed up at the office. He works in a remote area but was in town and decided to visit. We had a nice chat and closed from work together. Since we live in the same direction, we decided to head home together. That is when we ran into the other guy, the one who talked until we got tired.

Before reaching home, we stopped at a local junction to grab something to eat. I do not really cook, so I have been surviving on “stress food” lately. I ordered fried Irish potatoes, spaghetti, and eggs. I’m a bit selective about street food because of how it is prepared, but I was really hungry.

After eating, we parted ways, and I went home. As a football lover, I was sad that I missed the FIFA Club World Cup match. I had really wanted to watch the game between Dortmund and Fluminense. I believe Fluminense is a South American team, so seeing them draw against Dortmund says a lot, both teams clearly came to compete.

I watched the highlights and then checked my social media feeds, including Steemit. Nothing new was going on, and the network was not great either, so I decided to end the day and get some rest.

Cheers
