Some differences between technology and engineering
Technology is the knowledge of applying science for practical purposes in industries to use machines to carry out certain operations. As it is always said, "Need is the mother of invention" so as we can say "Engineering is the mother of technology". That is the knowledge of science obtained from the study, experiences, and practices applied to create a system useful for mankind.
Technology and Engineering are closely related to raising the question about the terms and their true means. This article will be pulling out some differences between Technology and Engineering. In summary, Engineering is the knowledge of science and techniques to produce something new while Technology is the products produced by applying the principles of engineering.
Comparison Table Technology and Engineering
parameters | Technology | Engineering |
---|---|---|
Input | Raw materials and knowledge to produce innovative products. | Concept of scientific applications to understand how to come out with new inventions. |
Output | Phones, Computers, Air plans, etc are results of technology | Knowledge, and resources to create new technology |
Orientation | Action base | Knowledge-based |
Raw Materials | Applications | Already exciting technology. |
Productions | It was done in masses production after being tried and tested | Can't be produced in large number, it only produced tried product |
Reliability | Tested and confirmed for use | Not reliable as it is still in production. |
- What is technology
It is the application of knowledge and production of a new product that has been around from prehistoric times. A good example is the invention of touch screen laptops in recent times, the internet, and blockchain technology.
Technology is here to make life easier with several other uses, which have helped in the building of the economy of many countries. Technology is becoming a measuring instrument of power for some countries, the level of advancement determining how strong the country is in the world. With the several advantages, it also had a good number of disadvantages
Technology is the leading producer of by-products that pollute the environment. It has taken over the jobs of humans making mankind jobless in some sectors.
- What is engineering
It is the study of science and applying of the principles to produce new technology. One of the raw materials is already existing technology which is then used to engineer more products. Engineering covered several sectors, electrical engineering, mechanical, chemical, etc
Engineering is the architect's of technology with complex plans put into action to produce something new and useful for society. Engineering gives birth to technology.
Differences Between Technology and Engineering
- Technology is the result of engineering completion (product) while engineering is the use of resources and knowledge to produce new and improved products.
- Technology can be used for more than one time, while engineering will take a longer time to result in a perfect output.
- Technology is action-oriented while engineering is knowledge-oriented.
- Technology is mass-produced while engineering is not
- Technology is considered the result of application studies while engineering is considered the field of study.
Conclusion
Like I mentioned above, Technology and engineering are closely related. Engineering is the science of designing new things, technology is the science of making new products. Engineering can be categorized into different sectors, Technology can be categorized. Engineering and technology go hand in hand and can be the backbone of a country's economy and power. Engineering and technology have helped to make work easier in most industries all over the world today.

Okay, understood
Thanks for sharing this knowledge boss. I can actually see the difference between technology and engineering cause your points were explicit. Thanks
