ACT OF KINDNESS CONTEST @eveetim (10th April)

Introduction

An act of kindness is showing help to someone or people without expecting any payback from them. When showing an act of kindness, we do it wholeheartedly because, most times, the people we help may not be in a position to pay us back. Acts of kindness may include giving cash or any item to someone in need, visiting, calling, helping and even running errands or taking care of the sick, elderly and the vulnerable.

No one is dispensable, everyone, both rich and poor, can be in a position where you can show kindness. Don't be deceived by looks or conditions, show help where and when you need to, ask God to use you and direct you to the real people who are in need.

Act of Kindness

On Sunday 6th April, my children and I went to visit a church member who was sick and hospitalised. We noticed she and her family were not in church and so, I decided to call. That is how I got to know that she was sick and hospitalised. We were in the church till the service got to a close. I waited for my children to locate me since the children's church is separate from that of the adults.

After picking them up, I told them we would be going to visit Mummy Elisha (that's what my children call her), that she was in the hospital. My children agreed, and so I put a call again to inform her we were on our way so as not to take her by surprise. And so, we boarded Keke (tricycle) and went to the hospital she told me about. On getting there, I called her again to locate her ward/room and she directed me.

We finally got to her ward. She was still on a drip. She narrated how she had severe pain in her stomach at night that made her uncomfortable that made her husband take her to the hospital. According to her, she was recovering and would leave the hospital the following day.

So we prayed for her and everyone in the ward, and we left the hospital. It would have been little, but she appreciated our kind thoughts for visiting her. I personally felt excited that I visited.

Sometimes, giving from our abundance means nothing. Visiting and speaking to encourage them goes a long way to healing and pulling some people out of dangers and situations. Don't procrastinate, visit that friend, show concern, and you'll be happy you did.
