Club100/ The Diary Game: At The Fako High court.(21/10/2022)
MORNING
After the long journey from Bamenda to Douala, I needed a lot of rest. so I arrived in Douala at 3am.
7am I was up to prepare for the court case we had in Buea that Morning at 10am. We were in Douala so we had to drive to Buea so as to meet up with the hearing.
about Leaving For Buea
We left for Buea at 8:30am but got caught up in traffic in Tiko. The Funeral of a bike rider was being displayed on the main road by the bike riders and this to them was the payment of their last respect.
What helped us pass the traffic jam was a military convoy that came and opened up the road.
We managed and squeezed through with the convoy in the narrow gap and finally we went through.
While in the traffic, It was already 11am but yet the hearing was to take place at 10am. We were 1hour late.
We speeded up and around mile 17, The car refused to pull again. What a bad omen.
I switched the car engine off and waited for some time after which I switched it on and it could pull this time around. I was already about 2 hours late but what could I have done? it was not my fault as traffic and the car refusing to pull were the excuses I had to give.
- Fako high court*
When I finally reached the Fako high court, I was told there was no seating as there was the swearing in ceremony of new lawyers into the Bar and the Batoner was present.
at the ceremonial ground
I went around the court, greeted a few colleagues and finally met with the Bar council president who invited us over for a chilled drink at Mountain Hotel. It was indeed a pleasure.
AFTERNOON
Mt Hotel
At Mountain hotel I changed into my unofficial attire as it was a sunny day. We were served drinks and by this time, the Batoner was yet to join us. He only joined us after the first round of the drinks was finished.
Bar Council PR.
We stood up to acknowledge his presence and latter on Sat down and continued drinking.
All this was in a bid to waste time before going out in a convoy to the reception ground and this was the synod hall.
We finally left Mountain hotel in a convoy and headed for the hall Where the high court judges were seated and waiting for the Bar council president.
We entered the hall and everyone one stood up and welcome the general oversear of all lawyers. We seated and the occasion proper began. There was enough to eat and drink but I had eaten morethan enough already. A bottle of beer was just okay and I left for Limbe.
EVENING
The vision 2035 Magazine
I arrived in limbe at 8pm and headed to where I wanted to go and collect some documents. I did all of this in a hurry as I still had to go back to Douala.
I finally left for Douala at 9pm. I did not go straight as I had to see some people in Tiko. I was well received and I finally left for Douala at 11pm. at this time the road was clear and accessible so I had no problem running at any speed. I was in Douala at 12:30am and went straight to bed.
