International day of education (24th January, 2025
INTRODUCTION
ALL ABOUT INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION
AI and Education: presenting human agency in a world of automation.
Education is the fundamental human right of every child, whether male or female, but it's quite sad that in some continents, the male child is prioritized when it comes to education and the female child is relegated to the background. Education can make a difference in a child's life. It is not a privilege but a fundamental right, and compulsory. This is because education empowers minds and transforms the future.
The female child has a right to Education
AI and Education:
Most schools are still using the orthodox system of doing things, they do not have the necessary technologies to ease their work, neither do they have the necessary resources and infrastructures. Artificial intelligence has come to stay, it serves as a means to improve learning, gives quick and accurate answers to questions, gives fast access to materials and to some extent, it is an answer teacher shortage in schools.
Challenges in relation to AI and Education
Over 244 million children are out of school, it's either they are street hawking or they are trafficked to other countries. There are also others who do not have access to Education and cannot read. Now, these are our future leaders, so how will they develop the country or economy when they can't read and write and do not have any future ambition?
• The first challenge or the major one is limited accessibility to all students especially in developing countries. There are so many schools and students who are not computer illiterate and therefore cannot use technology or artificial intelligence especially in the rural areas.
• Gender discrimination: Unfortunately, in some places, female children do not have access to Education or some technologies because it is believed that some professions are mainly for the male children.
Talking to my female students on the importance of education and their fundamental rights to education.
• Lack of privacy or exposure of too much data: The disadvantage of artificial intelligence is that it stores days so a lot of private data is exposed when using it.
• Over reliance on Artificial Intelligence: When teachers abd students use artificial intelligence everytime, they will rely too much on it and will limit their intelligence capacity or ability to think.
• High cost of maintenance: It's very expensive to implement and maintain artificial intelligence, so to cut too much spendings, some schools or teachers may decide not to use it to avoid spending more than they should.
The Way Forward
• Artificial Intelligence had come to complement and not replace the essential human elements of learning so we should all embrace it and know that it's for everyone, make and female.
Make and female children should be given access to Education
• Artificial Intelligence had really helped in terms of education as one can find virtually the answers to any questions. It has helped students learn better and teachers more efficient.
• Everyone, both make and female, should be given access to skills development through artificial intelligence example cryptocurrency is not just for makes, network marketing, etc.
• After school, everyone should be given equal employment opportunities, because education is for all. And Artificial Intelligence also plays a role in helping one chose his or her profession depending on the interest and skills.
