The Diary Game [12/02/2025] // My Son’s Immunization Day.

in Steem Cameroon8 days ago

Steem greetings from the motherland-Cameroon @everyone and welcome to my blog as I share with you my lifestyle content. To my fellow Cameroonian youths, I wish you all a happy youth day on arrears.

Guys, today was supposedly to be a ghost town in continuation of the three-day lockdowns imposed on the population by the separatist fighters. I had a rendezvous
in the public hospital for my son’s immunization at 1 year and three months old.

I had prepared breakfast and fed my kids. My husband had to drop the kids at school while I prepared our last child for his immunization day. At times, I feel a bit lazy taking my kids to public hospitals because they are a mess. I prefer using private clinics because they offer the best services, unlike public hospitals where they value playing around with their phones risking patients' lives.

Fortunately, immunization is done for free in public hospitals because the government has subsidised all the costs. The weather was hot and we hope it rains one of these days to calm down the overheating we are experiencing presently. My son could not withstand the heat in the immunization hall and I had to take him outside for us to sit and wait till it was our turn. The queue was long because some parents missed their appointments due to the imposed lockdown.

I was called up by 11:00 AM to take the baby’s weight and I thought after the weight was recorded, the vaccines would be administered immediately. That never happened guys and I was asked to go back and sit and wait. My son was already not happy to be in the hospital environment and wanted us to return home. I had to take him walk around the hospital.

I was called up again at about 11:30 AM for the vaccines to be administered. I was so scared on his behalf because I do not like to see syringes. But as a mom, I had to mount courage and hold him while he was being vaccinated.

After the vaccines, I took a walk back home. I received a call from my boss, requesting I should complete a certain task online and I immediately switched on my laptop and did the needful.

Then I had to prepare lunch for the family in between work. I decided to prepare rice with stew (tomato sauce). All the ingredients were already arranged in the fridge someday. It was easy for me to cook and I took less than an hour to complete cooking. I served myself a plate and as well fed my kids. I always like feeding them to ensure they eat properly.

After eating, I napped for a while and continued working on my laptop till evening hours. It was a successful day for me though stressful but I was happy to be able to carry along. I could not follow up on the soccer games this evening because I'm so exhausted and need to rest ASAP. Until my next diary session, it is a good night from my end.

Reading your diary alway inspired me Ma, looking at the tasks you accomplished on daily basis without any house help assistance is a top-notch, here in Nigeria small work that a mother of two is doing, she has already requested for house help, you are such a virtuous woman the bible describes, your diary encourage me to work even more.
Your son looks very handsome and healthy,my regards to everyone over there.

Is you are right, immunization is Free in public hospital and giving vaccines to children from 0 to 09 years is and important medical attention that government do give to the new born babies and that age of 09 years.
But a time mothers don't respond to this free treatment and they allow these babies to suffer sicker diseases.
I am happy seeing you Ma' going with your baby to the hospital for that purpose and seeing me nurse's being ready to carry out their tasks.
I really appreciate your baby having Boldness to take the vaccine without having fear, even though you as a mother according to you " so scared on his behalf because I do not like to see syringes. But as a mom, I had to mount courage and hold him while he was being vaccinated." In your statement here you was scared in the first place having sympathy for your baby but later having the boldness to encourage the little baby to take the vaccine was really a motherly care and the baby didn't cry.
What a strong boy.
That was good of you Ma"
