Hello friends how are you, I give a warm greeting to all who have joined this community, and are part of this great photographic initiative that I personally love, it fills me with happiness to see how people are joining and sharing their photos, photography is amazing, it is wonderful to capture moments, capture emotions, feelings, stories, and others, if you are reading this is because just like me you love photography or you like this art, and I invite you to join and follow us on this beautiful path of good catches.

As part of this new initiative of Macro Photography, I have been motivated to give some tips on this type of photography, some tips, talk a little about the subject in question, to help and motivate you to practice this type of photographic content, this branch of photography is fascinating, plus it is not necessary to be a professional, or have an incredible camera or know all the theory and technique of the world to make some incredible photos that come out of your creative head and eyes, just point and shoot. With today's phones you can take amazing pictures, or in my case I started with a 2mpx phone years ago, or you can use a compact camera.

First of all, what is macro photography?

It is the ability to obtain large images of small objects, living beings or any entity, there are certain technicalities that apply but we will not talk much about that here, not for now.

What do we need to make a macro photograph?

There are several ways to do it, in professional photography, special lenses are used, or lenses for this type of photography, but today I want to talk about the simplest way, most of today's phones and compact cameras give you the option to make a macro photography, the closest thing to a real macro.

You can use a phone tripod too if you are using the phone or if you are using a compact, some tripod, or handheld also works, but if you want it to look as sharp as possible, use the tripod for convenience.

I'm going to show you an easy way to do macro photography with a phone that is used today, using the pro mode of the camera, or manual mode, here we can take a picture quickly and well focused.

Here we have the options for lighting, such as ISO, shutter speed and white balance.

The ISO allows us to increase or decrease the illumination, the shutter speed also, but it allows us to regulate the speed at which the photo will be taken, slower or faster, this is fundamental here.

Why? Suppose we want to take a picture of a butterfly with the phone or camera, thanks to the shutter speed we can capture the image faster or slower, but the faster the shutter speed, the darker the picture will be, and the slower the picture will be, the more illumination, this is called exposure triangle, it sounds complicated but it is not, if we want to take a picture of a butterfly for example we just raise the speed, ok, it gets dark then we raise the ISO, the higher the ISO the more noise in the image we will have, the noise is like a colorful grain that is created in the image, small pixels, which sometimes looks a little ugly, if it is a lot.

We focus manually, much more effective to have the photo well focused, for compact cameras with the possibility of working in manual certain things apply the same, in the same way we can choose to make them in automatic ways, just point and shoot, the important thing is to get a good shot, very cool, and beautiful <3

What can we photograph? And how to compose

Everything, absolutely everything, is susceptible to end up being one of your wonderful and incredible macro photographs, that's why we can capture anything, anything that makes you feel a sensation, something conceptual, something that tells a story, something beautiful, something nice, something pleasant, whatever you consider art for you, that has a meaning.

Being a very small point of focus is a little easier to compose where the subject is the only one with the focus, when the background is out of focus gives us something attractive, with little depth of field, here we can play with the background but in a compositional way with color or light, something that complements.

I am going to give you some tips to compose with a well known rule of photography, the rule of thirds.

This rule "tells us that the center of attention should be placed at the intersection of the imaginary lines that divide a photograph into three parts from top to bottom and from left to right". In other words, it is a matter of imagining our photograph divided into nine equal zones that are formed by four lines, two horizontal and two vertical, as shown here:

The intersection of these lines forms four "strong points or points of interest" that are ideal for placing key elements of the photograph and achieving a more balanced composition with a comfortable visual rhythm. Likewise, the lines are an excellent guide to place (or relate) important elements, both vertically and horizontally. Similarly, these rules can also be broken depending on the concept or photo you want to achieve, but it is advisable that when starting in the world of photography we use as much as we can these techniques and rules and then break them to our liking when we already have experience.
