Back to the basics - My Actifit Report Card: February 16 2025

Well it's time to get back to training after my rather horrible (non)performance at the Jackpot ultra up in Nevada this weekend.

This was the USATF 100 mile championship so I had high hopes to do well and make a mark in the old man (60 plus year old) division but something went horribly wrong the day prior and I never got into a rhythm in the race.

I didn't feel great and a bad storm the night prior left me tired and my desire lacking. Ran a decent (although bit too fast as I was looking to run out to 50 miles and then HODL to 100.

Unfortunately my calfs began to seize up and I felt sharp spasms that caused me to stop running and start walking the course. I wasn't able to loosen things up so I bit the bullet and tossed in the towel for this race at 30 miles.
I'm extremely disappointed but for some reason my training just went south the past few weeks so time to regroup and reflect on what to do and get ready for the trail 34 hour in April when we head back to NM.
But for today my legs were able to tolerate a relaxed 3 mile run as well as 3 miles walking up in Granite Basin. My diet has a ways to go to get back on track but some fasting days should help.
