A few days ago, I visited Chilahati Railway Station just to look around. Today I’ll share with you a detailed post about this important station.

Chilahati Railway Station.

Chilahati Railway Station is the last station in the northern part of Bangladesh. Every day, several passenger and freight trains run through here. Though modernization came quite late, now the station looks much improved. It’s also an important spot because the Bangladesh India border is just beside it, which makes cross border travel easier. For many years, this station was neglected, but after the land port started operating, things finally changed.

Old Station Building

This is the old station building of Chilahati. For years, the Station Master used to work here, and even now tickets are sold from this old office. The newly built building was inaugurated only for the Station Master, while the rest of the activities still continue in the old building.

Ticket Counter

Like other stations, a certain number of tickets are allocated here. Passengers can easily collect their tickets from the counter for their destinations. In the photo, you can see a passenger buying a ticket from the counter.

Fare List of Chilahati Railway Station

This board shows the fare chart for different routes. Passengers can check the list to know the exact fare for their journey and then easily purchase tickets at the counter.

Railway Security Office

Bangladesh Railway has its own security force known as RNB. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers and railway property. Each station has an office for them so they can provide security services quickly and effectively.

Office of Sub-Assistant Engineer, Carriage Depot

This office is usually where the train examiners work. They check both passenger and freight trains. From here, the examiner ensures that everything runs on time and safely.

Chilahati Railway Station (New Building)

This is the newly built modern station building. Immigration, customs, and ticket counters are all inside this building. Everything was designed carefully so the station could serve as a future iconic model railway station in Bangladesh.

Electric Substation

All the electrical operations of the station are run from here. Power supply and maintenance are managed by railway staff 24/7 to avoid any accidents.

Carriage Depot of Chilahati Station

This depot handles maintenance and cleaning of passenger and freight train coaches. It’s one of the few railway stations in Bangladesh that has its own carriage depot.

Over Bridge of Chilahati Station

Every station has an over bridge to help passengers cross safely from one platform to another. This makes movement easier not only for people but also for carrying luggage and goods.
