Akilpur: A beautiful beach in Chittagong...

in Traveling Steemlast month (edited)

Chittagong, a coastal district, has more than 15 sea beaches. Among them, a few beaches are quite popular with tourists, while the rest have yet to gain much popularity. Tourists prefer to visit these beaches to spend a pleasant time, especially in the afternoon during their leisure.

While other beaches see crowds of visitors on weekends or public holidays, there is one beach that remains crowded on any day of the week. The vast beauty of the sea and the breathtaking view of the sunset can be best enjoyed from this beach. It is none other than Akilpur Sea Beach.

Although I have shared about it in my many blogs, today I will present it to you in a different way. This beach seems to change its appearance in every season. Despite not having any major initiatives for its beautification like other beaches, it is so beloved to everyone for its natural beauty.

Akilpur Sea Beach is also known as Bashbaria Sea Beach to many. It's about 5 kilometers long along the Bay of Bengal, is located about 12 kilometers north of Chattogram city. Being slightly west of the highway, one has to pass through a few villages to reach here. However, there are about 5-6 different routes from the highway to get here, making it easily reachable.

Since it is a sea beach, there is no need to pay any fee to visit here and the vast area is open to everyone. There are some umbrella-shaded seating arrangements for tourists to rest in the area. While other beaches charge hourly rent for these seats, they are completely free at Akilpur Sea Beach. You just have to be lucky enough to find them empty.

Most tourists come here and go down to the shore. During high tide, the waves of the sea come all the way to the shore. You can enjoy the sea from a close distance, just a few feet away, while sitting on the rocks. Occasionally, you can also see various launches, steamers and fishing vessels moving in the sea.

Its beauty is undoubtedly similar to other popular beaches. However, it is located in an unfortunate place where no significant initiatives have been taken for its beautification or improvement in the past few years. The biggest reason, I believe, is that it is located on the coast towards the village.

Compared to the city mayor's constant attention to the improvement of other popular beaches located towards the city, the municipal administrator has not yet taken any good initiatives.

A few months ago, the beach shore suffered big damage due to a natural disaster. Since then, a seawall has been constructed there. However, the seawall that has been built is by no means durable.

I have shared a picture of the seawall, where it can be seen that the wall is mainly made by placing a cloth layer over the sand bag, which has already significantly reduced the beauty of the beach.

However, no matter how neglected it is, it will always remain among the top favorite beaches of tourists. I especially prefer to visit here because I have not found anywhere else the peaceful atmosphere of the afternoon and the experience of enjoying a clear sunset. It will always be on my list of best beaches.

You can also visit here at night if you want. Although there is no arrangement of tourist police from the administration here but there is nothing to fear. Being located towards the village, it can be said that security is ensured through the local people here.

I remember once I came here with some of my friends around 12 o'clock at night and I still saw the presence of many tourists from far and wide and it did not seem to me that there could be any security-related problem.

You can visit this beautiful sea beach Akilpur in the seaport city of Chattogram with your family, relatives and friends. It is open to everyone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For your convenience, I am attaching the map location below:

Actually, the entire sea beach is quite long, with different points named after different villages. Kumira Beach is also a part of Akilpur Beach. Many people know it by different names, which I mentioned in this post, but the main beach is called Akilpur. It has different points among which Kumira Point is one of the points where I visited and took the pictures. However, I have updated the new pin to match the Google Maps location. Thank you.
