Details of how to get to the Abhay Mitra Ghat, Chittagong, Bangladesh
You have to go there from the Firingi Bazar intersection in Chittagong City by taking the road on the right. You can go here by any means of transport, such as motorcycle, bicycle, rickshaw, or car. I walked there because it was closer to where I was staying. It takes about ten minutes to walk here from Firingi Bazar. Maximum cost from Firingi Bazar is 20-30 BDT or about 1.1 Steem to 1.5 Steem
1 Steem= 16.2 BDT (current value)

While going there, we saw a cargo truck. This truck is used to transport goods here. Although it was just waiting near the port here. The heavy goods used in the work here are brought here from different places in this truck. There are also some other large cargo trucks through which goods are taken from here.

The river port always has uninterrupted electricity and at night, a large tower light provides light. It is also located high up and the location can be seen from a long distance. I think helicopters or planes also get light signals from here when flying. Big ships anchor here, so security here is very difficult. Interestingly, after going to Chittagong, I saw this light at the beginning because it could be seen from a distance, but I did not know what this light was. I came to know about it after travelling to Abhay Mitra Ghat.

There is a restricted area on the right side of the wharf where only people with identification can enter, that is, only those who work here can enter by showing their ID cards. There are several cranes here through which heavy goods are lifted from ships. From a distance, it can be understood that these are very powerful cranes. There are numerous cranes in the entire river port, but some of them are in a broken state. A high concrete embankment has been built on the wharf where the cranes are located because during high tide, this place is filled with water and when it is low tide, the water becomes empty. When I visited the place, it was low tide, so most of the wharf was empty of water.
Another main feature of this ghat is that from here you can go to the other side of the river where there are settlements and markets. Many people come to the other side of the river to do business. Also, teachers, students and various professional people travel from one side of the river to the other through this ghat when necessary. There are rows of sampans at the ghat. Each sampan crosses the river with a certain number of passengers. The fare to go from one side of the river to the other side is 20 BDT or about 1 steam. In the picture provided, you can see some sampans with passengers leaving to go to the other side of the river.

It is a river port, so there are many fishing trawlers anchored in the middle of the river. At night, fishermen use these trawlers to go out into the river to catch fish, and in the morning, they return here to sell the fish.
What I Eat
From here I bought nuts and beans which were very tasty, and from the other side of this river, I bought some local vegetables.

After visiting this place, I found the most beautiful sampans anchored at the ghat. These are traditional sampans of Bangladesh that I have seen for ages. Although these sampans are in a stationary state, I do not know the reason behind this, but I really like these wooden sampans. They are stationary because there is no paint on them. If they were floating in the water, then their outer part would have been coloured so that the wood would not deteriorate quickly in the river water.
Tips from my experience
- Visit this place early in the morning or late afternoon for the best views
- Bring your camera to capture beautiful sunset photos.
- Wear comfortable shoes as you will probably want to walk along the ghats for the best experience.
- Take a river cruise on a sampan.
