Jervis Bay Near Booderee National Park NSW, Australia Boat Trip

Today I will take you to Jervis Bay, which is our favorite destination during summer vacations. We generally spend two days here. The main attraction of Jervis Bay, apart from the beautiful beaches with sugary white sand and food from different countries available at a great price, is the crystal-clear water of the Pacific Ocean, which attracts dolphins, especially the bottle nose dolphins.

I love the way these dolphins are so sociable that they love the company of humans. As planned, we reached Jervis Bay, where we had already booked a beach house at around 2pm and then spent the rest of our time strolling on the beach right in our backyard.

However, this post will show you our trip once we left by the boat trip for the dolphin-watching trip and the beaches and caves on the way in the Pacific Ocean.

It all started the next day on Saturday at 11am from where we were to board the boat. By the way, Jervis Bay has been a marine park for almost 25 years and is now one of the most unique and healthy ecosystems in Australia, attracting thousands of people every week. A little too crowded but then it's a pleasure to spend time with so many friendly people.

You might have seen and read a lot of articles that show you the mainland of Jervis Bay, but let me take you for an experience where scenic trails in crystal clear waters, abundant marine life, and a variety of migratory birds leave a lifetime experience on the tourists.

And yes, if you are lucky, another highlight is the chance to spot whales while crossing the dramatic high cliffs at Jervis Peninsula. Yes, these whales come to rest and give birth to babies in Jervis Bay.

A trip to Jervis Bay is not a normal boat ride experience when you just cruise along, but it takes you through the untouched coastline of Beecroft Peninsula, where you can explore the ancient sea caves from outside and inside if lucky and the winds let you enter. We missed this opportunity last time as the weather was unfavorable, as there was a lot of wind and rain.

We could not enter into the caves because the weather was alarmingly windy, but our disappointment was soon gone when we saw dolphins running, racing with our boat, giving us their beautiful smiles.

What you see is Greenfields, which is a popular spot for barbecues and birthday celebrations. In addition to the gorgeous white sand beach, there is a large grassy field with picnic tables, free gas barbecues, toilets, outdoor showers, and plenty of parking. I'm not a foodie, but I loved the setting with restaurants, bars, grills, and a variety of food at great prices. Every dining area had views of the beach and ocean.

If you're a young couple and fancy a walk after lunch, there is the White Sands Walk and the Scribbly Gum Track, both of them are considered easy, although Scribbly Gum is a little steeper, but who's to stop tourists from making it there?

Huskisson Beach

If you're camping at White Sands Park, you'll have direct access to Huskisson Beach, which is one of the busiest beaches in the area. It's a popular spot for families, and Huskisson Beach is ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Rangers patrol the beach regularly during peak times and do their job with strict vigilance.

This is Hyams Beach, which is reputed to have the whitest sand in the world and is a very beautiful place. However, if you are visiting in the summer months, we would recommend visiting one of the 16 other white sand beaches in Shoalhaven.

Hyams has a population of about 500 or so but it is very busy during the summers, and as thousands of visitors flock to this small town, it gets crowded and a bit chaotic. So we found a solution by parking the car at Blenheim Beach and Greenfields Beach and walking to avoid the crowds. Just walking along the white sand path to Hyams Beach is an experience in itself.

Honeymoon Bay

This place is really amazing, and when you look at the place and the honeymooning couples, you might think we got married a little too early, as it is the perfect spot for a honeymoon.

Honeymoon Bay is located on Lighthouse Road near the town of Currarong, Jarvis Bay. In summer the bay waters are warm and clear, and the water is deep blue. Camping at Honeymoon Bay is available year-round on weekends, and trust me, the place is never short of honeymooners.

Located on the southern edge of Booderee National Park but a little further, Q Beach is a popular spot for surfers and tourists looking to spot native wildlife. People come here in the summer to enjoy all the beach facilities including a campground with showers, toilets, gas barbecues and charcoal barbecues or you name it.

We have been to this area time and again, where tourists can enjoy cultural and nature-based activities and experiences. I've tried to visit the Booderee National Park, but our time has mostly been spent boating, dolphin and whale-watching, sitting on beaches and winery visits.

Incidentally, we have our plan to visit Booderee National Park in the coming weeks once we reach Canberra on next Wednesday. As I said, we didn't book a camp here as we were staying in a beach house but the tents here are a lovely place to stay and have fun. We observed the beach from a distance and moved on.

Moona Moona Beach

Popular with young families, Moona Moona has plenty of spots for swimming, paddling, snorkeling, and wading. There are also well prepared areas for picnics with covered gas barbecue areas, toilets, and outdoor showers. Hey, beware, this beach is popular among pet lovers because they are allowed to take their pets on this beach.

There are many dolphin and whale tour operators in Jervis Bay where we had booked our slots in advance.

We last visited the place in 2023. The charges per adult then were AU$30 and AU$20 for children.

Total Trip Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (Actual cursing 2 hours)

But I heard from my friends that they have cut short the duration to 1.5 hours on the boat and increased the charges to AU$50 for adults and AU$32 for children aged 2–14.
