Description of the Orinoco River crossing

This trip was made within the framework of the Orinoco Fair, which is held every year in August, due to the fact that this is the month when the river reaches its maximum flood. Both cities are separated by the river. The southern part is where the boardwalk of Ciudad Bolivar is located, while in the northern part is Ciudad Orinoco, which was formerly known as the town of Soledad.

Part of what exists on the side of the boardwalk of Ciudad Bolivar, there are already some fishing posts, which in abundance is given for this season, product of the overflowing of the lagoons that are found throughout the length and breadth of the river, due to the rains; This abundance of all kinds of river fish, which is exploited by local fishermen of both cities, being the atarraya the preferred fishing tool, which is nothing more than a net, surrounded by lead on its edges, creating a trap for the fish, which are trapped in the net. As you can see in the video, friends and family are dedicated to this activity. There are also street food stalls, whose menu is generally related to the products caught in the river.

Then on board the passenger boat that took us to the other side of the river, where there is another boat port, which serves as both arrival and departure. To board the boat, it is necessary to put on a life jacket, which is mandatory for all passengers; the passenger load must also be distributed along the entire length of the boat, specifically on both sides of the boat, to balance and prevent the boat from leaning to one side, which is dangerous in a swollen river at this time, which could cause an accident if the boat flips over.

The sensation you feel when traveling is the roar of the water, which suggests that the river drags all kinds of materials, you can also appreciate that it is a different trip than normal when the river is not swollen. It can also be noted that the famous big rock called Piedra del Medio, because it is halfway and that at this time of the river flooding, it is almost not seen; you can only see in the distance on the horizon, the Angostura Bridge. I must point out that the peace and tranquility that you can feel and breathe is indescribable.

Once on the other side of the river, we find similar environments to those of the boardwalk of Ciudad Bolivar, with its fishing and sales stalls. From the Malecon of Ciudad Orinoco, you can see Ciudad Bolivar in all its splendor. A continuation of the video of our experience.

Thank you friends of this platform Traveling Steem for reading this post, and I invite the following friends to participate in this contest @mini80, @ciru2014 and @doriscermeno27.
