In answer to a comment made by a fellow Steemian

I started my reply on a comment made by a fellow Steemian on the appointment of June's curating team and pretty soon I saw I was going to fill the page so here I am.

Best to put my reply as a post on my blog.

The comment:

It's not as easy as it looks to create a strong team.
But then it shouldn't just be about beating the current team.
It could go in turns. Like maybe a team that is selected now can only apply after a month or two so that other teams too can be given the opportunity.
Normally the members of a team that a chosen often will only continue growing stronger and that already makes it harder to "challenge" them as you said.
But if it's to go in turns then the next best team will be given a chance too and thar way not just a particular team will be curating.
Take for instance your team and ma'am @ngoenyi team, those teams have never been "challenged". They are really good, have been doing a great job not just as curators but also in their individual accounts and there is no denying it but if it was set that you can't apply or be selected maybe 2 or 3 times in a row then others too will be opportuned to be selected for the spot.
I will take ma'am @patjewell for instance. She joined the team at 61 or 62 rep and she wasn't a dolphin then but with help from being part of a curation team she is a dolphin now and at 70 rep.

My reply:

It is a pity you didn't read my reply to the user on which you have commented. As I wrote to her;

I agree with you. I would love to see more applications and by that giving more Steemians the opportunity to curate. It is a pity that, if I am not mistaken, in four of the categories there was only 1 application for each.
There is thus no other choice but to accept these applications.

Steemgrowth, The7Up's was one of them. It was the same for us last month. I can guarantee you that if there was a 2nd application they also would have been evaluated. So please don't look at us as competition apply!

I so wish I could change everybody's viewpoint about curators. Gosh it is no easy job.

It takes hours from us. If I had to do it for the money I, as a business women and director of a company, would for sure not have done it. Guaranteed!

I do it for the love of my Steemian friends and the love of Steemit. I serve and there is nothing in life that gives me more pleasure than this. I am a Steemit fan and I am in Steemit for the long run and not for the short run!

Don't make a mistake, I have learned from being a curator and that is also what you have mentioned. But you know what I do week after week? I share what I have learned with all of you.

I am forever forwarding advise on the groups, I am helping Steemians which I don't even know with their posts and I encourage wherever I can. I have seen enormous growth in the Steemians who listens to me and I am pretty sure I'm going to see their names being published as curators very soon and not because they have asked for it but because for what they are achieving.

Then on your last part. Please go back to my blog. I started being successful one month after I rejoined Steemit. I worked hard on my blog in February and March and I think I was pretty successful. In fact I was so successful and started to build my name that I was approached by two teams to join them in their curator application. That is how I became a curator, I was invited and did not ask.

In this period of February and March I had COVID 19 and although I was very sick and I had to fight with my family I posted posts, day after day.

I build my own reputation that I can promise you and I am darn proud of it!

My posts:

Day after day my post is ranked under the top 75. In fact of 80% of the days my post rank under the top 15. It takes hard work to get this right and it does not depend on if you are a curator or not. Just to give you an example, for the 27th of May there were over 3,900 posts posted on Steemit. To ranked under the top is an achievement.

Twice I was a weekly winner during the Engagement Challenges. I did not miss one day even though I was totally taken out of my comfort zone by some of the topics. It wasn't me voting on my post, it was you guys. You found my posts fit enough to receive a vote.

My engagements:

Next you can go look at the most engagement stats. From the time these stats was released I was under the top 10 week after week. This doesn't just happens. There is no autoresponder set to reply on my behalf, I am not a MOD which replies on posts and as a curator we don't reply. No, it is all my work.

I am the one replying and interacting on other Steemians posts. You know yourself that I don't just vote and comment on two post as is required by us to do in our WhatsApp groups. No, I vote and comment on EVERY single post and EVERY single day. During the Engagement Challenge it took me nearly 2,5 hours EVERY night to read, comment and vote on posts which were posted on our groups alone.

My advice:

Whatever you do, do it to your best and the rest will follow.
DON'T wait for others!
DON'T give up!

In closure, this is me, I love my communities, I am dedicate, I am hardworking and I am proud of what I have achieved. I have enjoyed my work as curator and nothing is going to stop me from enjoying it again in the month of June.

Best of all, I know I am part of a great and well deserving team!
@disconnect @kiwiscanfly @harferri @klen.civil @ngoenyi @nahela

Ps. I am not satisfied with just one dolphin, no ways!

„Unfortunately“, I also do not understand why so many users react with envy and resentment.
Many think it is a great privilege to curate for the sc teams. Maybe it is for one single reason: the Steemit team trusts us (even in the curator teams there has been abuse), we are - also by the community - respected, honest steemians with honor experience.
Anything else? Sorry, the hourly wage is miserable... LOL
So? Why do we do it at all? To make the Steem a better place! To prove that rewards or money should definitely not be the main focus here. Me anyway. My selfish thought? I want a platform where I feel comfortable. One where there is real community, one where you can also shine through your skills. I don't want any coin vultures, scammers and nagging trolls where I feel comfortable.

I was just smiling while reading through your comment, because I always said it that I knew so many users in this platform who will not apply for the monthly curators had it been it's for monetary reward, and boom you just confirm it.

Those who would like to be a curator because they believe they will become "rich" by doing so have completely wrong ideas...
If you have not understood the "Steemit system" (in which there is no place for egocentrics), if you do not have some idealism, you do not need to apply. It will only end in disappointment (from all sides), often even in fraud.

You're absolutely right! And I was shock when I read that comment, thank God we have people who selflessly serve others out of love, not out of some sort of dubious ulterior motives.

Let me start like you…
“Unfortunately” we are all human 😊
We are all different and unique. Just think how boring life would have been if we were all the same.

You are right, we do it for one common goal, to make Steemit a better place.

Thank you, it is clear that you, just like me, is here to serve! 👏🏻👏🏻

Hihi - "thank God" we are all human... 😉
And the challenge of dealing with all fellow human beings, of taking everyone as they are, is always exciting... 😁

Never a dull moment... not even on Steemit! (•ิ‿•ิ)

Best reply ever! It's not easy to be a curator if you are one who really cherish your fellow steemians. It really takes a full day for me. I wait to go round the clock to enable everyone post for the day. I wish we can have others who could compete and make their own application. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thank you for always being there for me!
As I said, we are two peas in a pot and we go full out in everything we do on Steemit.
Never ever ever ever change who you are! ❤️

I was feeling so uncomfortable with that comment, and I bet you this is the best reply, it's sad 😭 to learn that people wants to become curators out of wrong intentions, not out of love to serve others. It's good you tell them the work that is involved, that on your curation days you won't do any other thing than working around the clock to find quality posts to curate. I can attest to the fact that you were building your reputation before you become a curator, likewise many of us. Steemit is a free platform, and Steemit team is giving everyone an equal opportunity, so let them work hard as we're advice to and then apply next time, everyone stand a chance. I like your head up ma'am.

You know what!? It's over and now we look forward to what the month of June is going to bring for us.

I'm motivated and I am ready and I bet you are also (•ิ‿•ิ)
Good luck for the new month!

Sure 💪

Turns out you're much wiser than I thought, I've read every word of your answer, and it's given me a new understanding of how we should act.

It's hard to be a good person, there are many obstacles we have to go through, as we experienced while running WSP, but good intentions will always provide an easy way.

I believe, what you have achieved so far is what you deserve.

Thank you for your kind words.

I’m looking forward in working with you guys and girl on the WSP program.
It is like the cherry 🍒 on the 🎂 for me.
I just cannot wait to launch a project in my beloved country.

Thank you to Sc02 and the team!

Omo ma I trowel cap for you, your reply is enough for the wise. Any one that wants to compete with you that person wan dey hospital because your kind of strength is something else not minding your age.

For the first time today I’m sitting with a huge smile on my face. You’ve done it! Thank you!
Your hospital statement was classic! 👏🏻👏🏻

As for the age, my stepson gave me permission to be 22 with my last birthday. Age is thus no problem this side 😊

I admire you from afar, cut small strength for me

After reading this, I feel so sad at thesame time very happy for your growth here on steemit mom. You are a role model to most of us in here and I believe everyone will acknowledge your hardwork here on steemit. You deserve everything here on this platform because of your hardwork and sacrifices you haven't kept in place in committing your self to this platform

It's really unfortunate that people will always turn to look at others growth and be focused on it instead of them trying to be like that person so as to grow as well

When I read the comment, it really baffles me if this user have actually gone through your blog before writing down such comments

I always envy every hardworking person and I always strive to become like them. Instead of criticism, I think the best thing is to always look for ways to to become like the most successful people.. This is exactly what I am learning from you and I thank God your success is my source of inspiration here on steemit mom

Can I tell you something… I was also sad.
But then I realise we are all free to write how we feel and if that is how the author feels it is her right to broadcast it.
I still love the author and I will keep on supporting the posts.

What made we feel better was when I wrote my reply and I realised that I have achieved a lot and if I can inspire one other Steemian to give 💯 I have succeeded!
And.. I think I have.
Tonight I put my head on my pillow a happy chappy and tomorrow we start afresh!

Ps. I appreciate you coming up for me! A lot! 🤛🏻

Honestly your reply @patjewel to the comment is an excellent one, if a team is doing well and strong as he said, the steemit team have no choice than to choose them, again if there is no team competing the existing team, it simply means that they are doing well, when it comes to your reputation now, it is not because you are a curator, it is because you are hardworking and you are making quality post with your own account, you are committed in developing yourself, as a steemian,we should be mindful of developing ourselves so that others will see it just as you said, you were invited by 2 team to join curation team, that is as a result of your work, you have been enjoying your curation work and will enjoy the privilege again in the month of June 2022, congratulations the wining team

I promised myself that I’m going to read only one more reply before I go to bed. Now I’m glad I did😊

Thank you for your insight and kind words. 🌼
I can now close my eyes and go to sleep so that I can get up at 3 to start my curating obligations.

Good night! 😴
