Food Pack Giving to the Poorest of the Poor

Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life. – Jackie Chan

As famous Jackie Chan noted above, it is very inspiring for me to do kindness even in a little way as much as possible. We may not be able to give the most of what we have but at least a parcel of what can someone benefit on that day. This is what I have experienced during the peak of the pandemic when the world seems sleeping and people are in fear for what the next day would bring without any sense of security when and where will they get food for their daily needs especially during times when almost everything had locked down and things are not accessible even the hard way.

But no matter what the situation is, people and most especially Filipinos like me will still find chance and time to help people who are most in need than us. I was still blessed during the peak of the locked down due to pandemic even though i had lost my job, separated from my husband and family and gone to a place where no one and a nowhere for me. It was a total lost and disaster experienced, but God has given me a lot of chances and wisdom that whatever had happened to me there was a wonderful purpose and that is to serve Him and the His people in a magical way.

God had brought me to a place where I can truly serve Him thru His people by sharing the gifts He has given me and the finances He had given to me. I have prayed that time that may God use me to help people that will come along my way and yes, He had given me people with the same interest as me. The people from the church and I prayed together for wisdom on how to help and that God will send His angels to help us too. Just so good to have a prayerful people around us.

Lending a hand during hard times is sometimes hard to do especially if you are also suffering from the same difficulties. But during the time of locked down in the whole country of Philippines, there was a lot of help coming form different individuals, people, and even ordinary citizen sharing their blessings. That was like a chain of goodness to people.

These different individuals donates, sacks of rice, canned goods, vegetables, household needs, cash and even time to pack and distribute the foods to the less fortunate individuals.

We started from little things we have shared and then slowly small donations came in. Day after day immeasurable numbers of supplies just came in from anonymous who doesn't want their names to be known. We started packing and distributing in nearby houses who's families are in dire need, lost their jobs, street dwellers and the one we call poorest of the poor.

We tapped the local government officials in a certain barangay or district to know exactly who are those people needs immediate help. We were given names, exact location of where they live, and the status of their family income, and all of our recipients are truly deserving of the help we give.

I was one of the luckiest people to help packing and distributing the food packs to different small towns in Metro Manila together with my church friends. We were only less than 10 people doing all the work since we limit people not to be infected with the virus. I had experienced climbing on the fence just to get to another area where their gate needs to be closed to prevent coming in and out of people. Because we want to help and give the food packs to them, we eagerly climbed though quiet dangerous but it was very fulfilling to serve and help.

When we crossed to the other side, people were very happy because they didn't realized that we were able to conquer the height of the wall. Wonderful experienced indeed!

This is the photo I took from one the places we went for distribution. This is in a slum area where people has to live in a very tiny room and lots of people in the community. They are one of those less fortunate who loss their jobs and income especially that most of them works in a very low paying job.

We use a truck to deliver the goods house to house and the truck we used was also offered by other friend who also drives us back and forth. His sacrifices together with the other boys from the church was very honorable. Our fears to infected with covid was just less compared to our desires to help. Me and the rest of the volunteers may not have enough money to buy and give for help but our strength, desires, courage, and the heart to help was also very important.

Whenever we arrived to the location, the town official met us to help facilitate the distribution of the goods and to minimize the exposure of each individual, to follow social distancing and only those recipients who will surely received the help. It was good to have them during the distribution, that gives us security.

It was tiring at the end of the day but me and other volunteers feel accomplished that we were able to help in our own little way.

Note to self: Whatever situation we have right now, we still have to be thankful and glad because we are blessed in different ways. We just have to see that a lot of people are in most need than us. Sometimes we think that we could not help because because don't have a lot of money, but money is not always the way to reach out and help. Our presence, desires, strength, dedication, and especially our willingness to listen to them and seek help to those who can help are also necessary ways to be a big help.

Thank you that I have joined this community and able to see how people could spread and encourage goodness towards people in simple yet important ways of spreading kindness. Especially to the admin and MOD of the @steemwomenclub and to the supporters @steemcurator01 @steemcurator02 . Thank you very much because in this way we can show people the importance of kindness (not bragging) that may radiate to everyone the need to act kindness and goodness to each other no matter what the situation is. May the world's goodness be upon you!

All in God's Glory,
