Steem Women Club |The Philippine Ukay-Ukay Culture | Fashionable Pre-loved or Secondhand Clothes
Hello to all the beautiful women in this amazing community. I hope we are all doing fine and may we continue to spread love and happiness to one another.
Speaking of love and happiness, I’m sure one of the things we, women love is shopping. We become instantly happy whenever we buy something for ourselves, particularly clothes. Now, I want to ask you this question, “What is your favorite shopping mall in your country?” I would really love to hear it from you, and that is what I am going to share here with you, my favorite ukay-ukay mall in our country.
Today, we celebrated Labor’s day here in the Philippines. It is also summer here, thus it is a perfect day to roam around the city or go to beaches. As for me, I decided to have fun and go shopping by myself. Shopping your favorite OOTD’s doesn’t have to be expensive. Here in the Philippines we have the so-called ukay-ukay wherein you can buy clothes in affordable prices.
What is “Ukay-ukay"?
Ukay-ukay is a Philippine Culture of shopping. It also comes from the Cebuano word ukay which means “to dig”, so literally ukay-ukay simply means “dig-dig” because you have to dig up piles of used or pre-loved clothes until you can make a good find. Usually these ukay-ukay clothes come from other countries such as Europe, United States, Japan, and Korea. There are also some ukay-ukay stores which do not only sell pre-loved clothes but also secondhand items like bags, shoes, and other accessories sold at a cheap price.
My favorite “ukay-ukay” mall
Here is my favorite ukay-ukay mall where I usually shop my dresses, blouses, trousers, and many others. The name of the store is Fabulosa. Here, the clothes are really in good condition, and the place is more convenient compared to other ukay-ukay stores in the country.
Also, they already hanged the clothes with hangers, thus it will be easier for you to find good quality clothing. There are really a lot of clothes to choose from. This is not only for girls, but there are also good items for boys.
In Fabulosa, they also sell pre-loved shoes and bags. They also sell gowns and wedding dresses at a cheap discounted price. If you are looking for pants, formal wear, skirts, blouses, name it, Fabulosa has it.
There are also many items which are put on sale, mostly cost less than a dollar. Yes, it is that cheap, you just need to ukay or dig-up these clothes to find a good one.
As for me, after a couple of hours digging up, I have found few clothes to try on. Fabulosa is a special ukay-ukay store because it has a fitting room which other stores don’t have.

Clothes I've tried
I’ve actually bought all those clothes. The cost was really cheap. I’ve bought 3 clothes for 99 pesos only ($2), and I’ve also bought the other 5 for 99 pesos as well. Thus, all in all, it only cost me 198 pesos for 8 clothes, that is equal to $4 only.
I’ve paid everything at the counter.
Here are my good finds, the store used eco-bags to pack your clothes.
That's it everyone! Here's a selfie of me roaming around my favorite ukay-ukay mall.
To conclude, I would like to say thank you for reading my blog. Also, thank you @steemwomensclub for this community. Hoping for your support.
