Feeling so weak

When the automatic cash machine (ATM), started trending in different Nigeria bank, my mum first experience with it, created a stigma, that she is yet to overcome till today.

On an antempt to withdraw, a certain amount of money, the machine sized her card, and it took about 48hours, before the bank customer service attend to her.

Within the 48hours, she was paranoid,. Thinking that the money is gone, just like the card. Little did she knows that her account was intact.

A week later, went with her to the bank to withdraw some money, found out that she is using a withdraw slip. When I ask her, she told me, that she has no card.

Upon approaching the counter, the cashier advise her to use her ATM card. Her response was, shocking , hilariously and disappointed a bit. "Amagim akwukwo" she say in Igbo language, I can neither read nor write, meanwhile, she is an author of a book and some acticles, and has a HND from a polytechnic.

At home I asked her why she did that, and narrated her first experience with the ATM, and how she vowed not to use it. She prefers to identify as an illiterate to get her money instead of using it.

Very often I remember that incident, and I wonder, how many people like her, have refused to adjust what is trending today. Probably because of mistake with device or equipment or because of an expectation that was met.

In so many industries and sectors, ways of doing things, keep envolving and many refused to adjust.

I forget to say we wasted over 2hours in the banking hall.

What if she new how much time we wasted? What if she new that the ATM is there to make life easier?
Same question are applied to people who disregard the power of Internet and social media, who would rather waste there data,on social media, instead of using it, as a stepping to better their lives. There are lots of skills that generate steady income in the internet today, that one can learn and make cool money, without stress. Example which is this one Steemit platform, and other block chain platform.
