The landscape of the Canary Island of Lanzarote changed radically a couple of centuries ago when several volcanic eruptions took place in the southern half of the island. Today the area most affected by the volcanic phenomenon is a highly protected national park, named Timanfaya.
In the picture we can see a small section with several of the ancient volcanoes.
