... In German there is a word for this: Verschlimmbessern. Making something worse through a well-intentioned improvement. That's the rule nowadays, isn't it...?

Yes, that's a very good word... it doesn't really have a good translation to English, but I understand the meaning. Unfortunately, it seems to happen more and more, yes... I think part of it because people always expect something "new," and the focus is on the importance of new while forgetting about better.
