INTRODUCTION

The value of a male child is primarily influenced by economic, cultural and social factors. This is because talking about it in these three pheres of life, we'll get to understand better the reason behind this much value for the male child. Lets take it one by one;

  1. ECONOMIC FACTORS: It is clearly seen that in the labour market it is mostly male that takes care of most of the hard task inorder to cater for the family. Male children contributes greatly to family's income through through their selfless contributions I'm farming, hard labour, marketing and through other economic activities.
They are also seen as the future financial support system to the family. When the parent are at their old age and not able to go about their daily activities to Carter for he family, the male children take over thereby giving the parent and family hope and need to live.
In terms of support, they serve as backbone and shield agiant attacks and harm to the family.

  2. SOCIAL FACTORS: In the social aspect, it is portrayed that the male child is the only person that can maintain the family's lineage thereby maintaining the family's culture and tradition. Through them, the family will continue to multiple without going into Extinction.
Another social factor is seen in community involvement as they go out to represent the family in social gatherings, sports, fostering social connections and sense of belonging
To add to that, decision making and leadership also applies in the social factors as the male children are usually groomed to act as heir apparent to thrones or any other leadership position because with them influence will be accorded to the position thereby fostering peace and harmony.

  3. CULTURAL FACTORS: This is the most essential factors which they undergo initiation rituals and rites of passage. This initiations marks their transformation and reinforcement into manhood and boost their importance to and in the society and the world at large.

CHALLENGES AND LIMITATIONS
  1. GENDER INEQUALITY: Give much accolades and attention to the male child, the female children in the ancient days were seen as waste or burden to the society as at then. Thanks to the modern innovations for seeing the need to treat both male and female genders equal.

  2. LIMITED OPPORTUNITY FOR GIRLS: Due to the gender inequality, it was believed that women do not have the capability and capacity to carryout certain task in the society so they were given less attention to and deprived of several right and opportunity including their educational and self actualization needs.

  3. CHANGING SOCIETAL VALUES: As the society is changing and undergoing abolishment, the male child children may later have difficulty in survival because those who expecting to be "next of kin" to take over their families wealth may later see themselves in a state of mess as the properties may likely be shared equally between the him and the female which will definitely lead to destruction in his life and future plans rendering the male child useless.

Now the big question, why am I saying all this ?

My sister experience this same challenge. After her marriage, she was blessed with female kids after several years of marriage and the husband and his family were not happen with the outcome. They pressured her to try as much as she can to give them a male child.
My sister was always so devastated and destabilized. But as God works, she was able to conceive and bore a male child last year. That's the baby's photo on the upper part of this write-up
To me, I didn't see the need for all of that because having a male or female child does not have any difference. Even after marriage, the female children still takes kind care of their original family and parents of which most men don't do, thy rather turn into problems to the family causing commotions and and brings bad names to the society with their illicit acts.
There is this say that " what a man can do, I woman can do better", if you look at the above saying critically you will agree with me that it is true. Women are now representing themselves in everything men do in the present world, so why the discrimination?

CONCLUSION

Let's kill that mindset of placing male children over female. There is nothing in this present world of which a man is doing that a woman cannot do, all it will take is to put them through and they are good to go. So please let us erace out that illusion and begin to have a thinking that suits the modern society

I invite @bossj23, @nsijoro and @basil20 to participate
