Yes, we are not the kind of people who let go easily, especially when someone we hold dear is involved.

We used to visit our nani's (maternal grand mother) place for summer holidays and sometimes for the winter ones. We would also go there to attend weddings of some relatives and similar occasions. Anyway, there was my mom's cousin, whom we would often meet during these gatherings, and I was very fond of that person. I wouldn’t call it a crush or anything because I was too young for that. But yes, if we had kept meeting, I might have fallen in love with him.

To cut the story short, one summer when we went to our nani's place, I found out there had been a family dispute over some inheritance. As a result, my maternal uncles had cut ties with the family to which that cousin belonged.

I still haven’t gotten over the fact that I couldn’t say goodbye to him one last time. I never saw him again after that... Technically, the summer before... And it kind of hurt me for a long time. Still does...
