Cryptid Hunter Beginner Guide 1 - Getting Started
I used to hate scones.
Honestly, I didn’t even know what a scone was until my mid-20s.
But now, I like them, and I even bake them once a week.
The reason is simple.
My beloved wife loves scones, and so does my son, who’s inherited his mother’s taste.
Life is funny like that.
When the people I love are happy, I can’t help but be happy too.
But today, I want to talk about something only I enjoy: games.
This is a blockchain-based P2E game called Cryptid Hunter that’s moving from Telegram to Steem.
I’ve been rugged many times in crypto.
Every time I swear I’ll never do it again,
but whenever something new comes out,
I catch myself peeking at it.
This game was no exception.
Sadly, but predictably, I came in late.
I invested about $1000
but have only recovered about a quarter so far.
And recently, with Season 2 starting, mining stopped, and they announced the service will end on August 15 along with Season 2’s end.
Still, I’m honestly relieved that
I can keep playing on the Steem version.
That’s a hundred times better than a complete rug.
They also said that for the upcoming Cryptid TCG, anyone with a legend card or higher from the Telegram version will get certain benefits.
It’s reassuring, and it makes me feel like this
team is actually working hard.
So yeah — today too, I’m serious about this game,
until the day I recover and make some profit.
Anyway, Steemit was totally new to me.
But because of this game, I dug around and finally managed to get it working.
Maybe it’s nothing for the younger MZ generation, but for me, it was almost a two-day journey.
I really hope this post can help someone out there.
As for how to sign up for Steem
— please look it up yourself.
To play Cryptid Hunter on mobile, I downloaded the Mises browser (instead of Chrome) and the steemmobile app.

If you haven’t started yet,
please consider using my link.
The game is not entirely set up yet,
so there are no referral rewards,
but I’d still appreciate it.
You’ll also need to download Steem Keychain to actually play the game.
Anyway, once I logged in, I saw a screen that felt familiar.
Everyone starts with 3 slots and 3 cards.
Sometimes you get lucky and pull a rare, but I’m still unlucky — I only got 3 normal cards.
Click the slots to equip the cards,
and mining starts automatically.
Normal cards have a mining power of 3,
so even with 3 of them, that’s only 9.
There’s also a dungeon system, where beginner dungeons reduce mining by 50%.
So the daily mining ends up being 4.5 — basically meaningless.
If you want meaningful returns,
you pretty much have to spend a bit and
hope for higher tier cards.
Honestly, that’s how P2E usually goes.
There’s an airdrop every 8 hours.
Usually it’s nova token or a normal card,
but there’s a 1% chance of getting a card pack.
So I try to click it every 8 hours if I can.
Luckily, it’s an idle mining system,
but you still have to recharge every 24 hours.
Right now, that costs a flask worth about 1 Steem.
I often missed recharges on Telegram version,
so my efficiency dropped a lot.
This post isn’t meant to encourage investment.
I’m also going to post this same content in Korean on other foreign communities.
