You Want Opportunity? Create One
A lot of people have so much waited for so long for opportunities but they forget to take responsibility or make a move to create the opportunity that they want. The same opportunity you have been waiting for is passing by you on a daily basis. In fact, a lot of other people are already taking step towards creating what they desire, while some others are waiting for their desires to drop on their laps. You cannot keep waiting for the perfect change to occur, otherwise you will wait in vain. You have to take up actions to create the kind of change that you desire.
One of the things that keep one on the same spot for a very long time is the mindset of waiting and hoping that someday, something good will happen. The people that succeed in life are those who are proactive, not just sitting and waiting for change or just being reactive. That is, being able to step out of their comfort zone, then do what other people are scared of doing. At the heart of what scares you, and in the middle of gross difficulties lies great opportunities. You have to understand that opportunity may not come looking like what it is, rather it may look like challenges and problems, but you have to look beyond them.
Many of the world's very renowned innovators were people that took advantage of challenges and turned them to opportunities. If you can see solution in any problem, you will not lack opportunities. Take this instance; before the world knew what air travel looks like, they were stuck with other means of transportation with their obvious disadvantages which included speed and convenience. While the rest of the world was seeing problems, the Wright Brothers had an entirely different view of everything - they saw opportunities, and invented the airplane. If they had not seen solution in the problem, they would not have made their invention.
Only children wish for opportunities to come. What adults do is that they turn what comes their way into opportunity. I remember when a friend told me that they started having water difficulty in their street because the contractors that were constructing the road damaged the pipe bringing water to the street. So they were totally cut off from the water-board for about 1 month until it was fixed. However, in that 1 month, he engaged in water delivery. He had a small truck and some gallons. So he would use the gallons, go to the next couple of streets that sell borehole water, buy and then transport to the people that would need them and he will be paid. That was how he made money from an opportunity which a lot of people saw as problems.
It is worthy to note that you have to be a worker and a doer so that you will be able to take advantage of opportunities when they come. Just to let you know; great things do not just happen by luck as some people may think. Even if you believe it can happen by luck, it will still be better that the luck will meet you when you are actively engaged in what you are doing. Just the same way sunshine happens, if you wait for too long, you will miss it and it will become evening. In the same way, when you are presented with opportunity and you are not quick to take actions immediately, you may stand the risk of losing it. Just to let you know; it is the preparation that you put into opportunity that will give birth to the possibilities of success.
Your biggest opportunity that you have been waiting for might just be staring you in the face, but until you are able to take actions, you may not take advantage of it. Do not wait for the opportunity that you want, create it. You do not have to start big, even the small start that you undertake at the right time will be worth more than waiting to start big and never did. When you want to take an action towards an idea, do it promptly - this is what makes you take advantage of it as an opportunity. Remember that you do no lack opportunities if only you can look beyond what you see.
