Relentlessly Pursuing After Your Passion

It is not enough to have passion to do something or to even have a goal that you need to achieve, there is a need for you to relentlessly pursue it - that is, commit your soul, your body, your mind, your energy, your time, and your resources to it. Trust me, anything worthwhile that you want to achieve will require you to make sacrifices, pick up challenges, take daring moves, and refuse to give up. It is true that passion is what fuels greatness, but you have to pursue it with determination, so as to lead to success.

In order to relentlessly pursue after your passion to the point of delivery, there are things that you need to be aware of. The first one is to identify what you are passionate about. If you do not know your passion, you will not know what to pursue after. Without knowing what you love or what to do, you will not actually know what to channel your energy, time, and resources into. You have to ask yourself what normal motives you to wake up in the morning and keeps you excited when you remember that you will do it. This could tell you what you are passionate about.

The next point is; do not downplay or underrate your passion. It may not be what is popular or conventional, but it does not invalidate it. I remember when one of my friends told me that he is passionate about food. A lot of people tried to talk him out of it, because where he grew up, it was uncommon to see guys going into food business. Well, I advised, motivated, and encouraged him. He enrolled into a catering school and after he was done, he started doing cookouts and outside catering with a friend while applying for a cheffing job. Finally, he got his dream job as a chef in one of the top hotels in the country. He understood what he wanted and he pursued it relentlessly, without belittling or underrating it.

Another very important point to note is that you need to have a clear plan and a goal relating to your passion. It does not stop at identifying what you want to do, you also need to know how to do it and the plans to get it done. If you want to travel to a place for example, you may know where you want to go to - which is the destination. But you also need to understand the route that will get you there. The knowledge of the destination is not a substitute for knowing the route of the journey. Just to let you know, your passion will not fulfill itself. You are the one that needs to consciously pursue after it in order to see its delivery and actualization. When you are setting a plan for what you are passionate about, it has to be as clear, understandable, and achievable as possible.

After making plans, you need to put them into actions. If you have a car for example, and you have fuel in it and every other conditions are fulfilled, it does not automatically mean that the car will move and take you to your destination. You have to start the car and observe the principles of driving for it to take you to your destination. In the same way, being passionate about something, then having a working plans for it, are not enough to see its actualization. What actually determines success is the action that you have undertaken. If you keep planning and do not take any action towards what you have planned, you are not better than the person who does not have a plan. It is your action that gives substance to your plans.

As a way to wrap up, also note that continuous investment in yourself is also a requirement. This includes reading books, taking practical courses, building good network of friends, acquiring new skills, and keep updating on your old ones. You have to understand that when you feed your passion, it will grow and drive you more. By investing in yourself and learning more, you will develop the needed confidence to take better actions, make better decisions, and become more productive.
