Reflecting At The End Of The Day, To Plan For A Better Tomorrow

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 days ago

A lot of people just make plans for how their day will look like, but they fail to take a reflection of how it went at the end of the day, to know if there are things they did that should not be done, things that should have been done that they did not do, or things that they should do better. The truth is that how you end your day is a very necessary requirements to the shaping of your tomorrow and your future. If you do not know how your day went, you may not be able to plan for tomorrow. It is not enough to have a productive morning, but also considering your evening can help you assess the progresses you have made, so that it will help you to plan for the day ahead.

I learnt something from one of my mentors and I have been practising it with good results to show for it. He said that before he sleeps every night, he would take a reflection of how the day went. It is by knowing how your day went that you will be prepared for the next day. Even if the day went excellently well, you still need to figure out what you did well and consolidate on it. When you know what you did that brought you good result, you will know how to replicate it. Then if you faced challenges, it is through reflection that you will be able to know how to solve it. So by reflecting on your day, you tend to acknowledge your progress, celebrate the wins, and also learn from failed attempts.

As part of your daily reflection, you will also become more grateful for what you have achieved so far. It is when you have thought well that you can thank well. Trust me, it does not matter how tough and challenging the day was, the truth is that there will always be something to be grateful for. This heart of gratitude will give you the internal energy to pursue after what lies ahead. Before you wind up for the day, just take a moment to outline the things that you are grateful for, and then you will see that the day was actually productive. The small things that people tend to overlook may be the hinge upon which a lot of other goodness hangs. So be grateful even for the little wins.

Your routines for the day should also include your nighttime routine. Nighttime routine does not only prepare you to have a good night sleep, it also clears your mind to get you prepared for the day ahead. There are times, many years ago, that I normally travelled to my uncle's place to stay for the vacation when I was in secondary school. I used to observe a routine that my uncle normally kept: each day he came back from work, he would take a notebook and made notes. In one of the days, I asked him what he was writing, he simply told me that it was how his day went, and it would help him to determine how his next day would be. I did not understand what he meant at that instance, but over the years, I understood what he gained by doing that. It made him to organise his day well.

In all your reflection, you need to avoid negativity and other bad energy and negative emotions. You should know that reflecting on your day is not a call for worries, nor does it mean being bothered about what you do not have control of.

Allowing stress and negative emotions to overwhelm you is not an act of reflection. If something is bothering you or you are worried about something, you can talk to someone about it or seek for solution, but do not sulk over it, so that it will not sap you of the strength to pursue after the tasks of the next day.

There is one thing that I also need to let you you know as a way of conclusion: each day comes with its own experiences and lessons to be learnt, but you need to be attentive to how your day went, for you to be able to see the lessons that the day is teaching. If the day must deliver maximally, then you need to be intentional about your day; plan ahead - do not take any day casual, so that you will not get a casual result.
