Preparing Yourself For Greatness
It is true that everyone wants to be great in their various fields of endeavour, but one should understand that greatness does not just automatically fall on people, there are certain things to do and of course, how to get yourself prepared for greatness. Just to let you know, greatness is possible, but it answers to certain demands. Without being prepared for a thing, then you may not maximise the full benefits of the thing even if you get it. This is why, to achieve greatness and to sustain it, there are things that you need to have handy with, and we shall take a look at a couple of them.
The first on the list here is to build and develop your mindset to think greatness. The truth is that you cannot go beyond what your mind can conceive. As a matter of fact, the extent at which you can be great is dependant on the level you have developed your mind. You have to learn to cultivate a mindset that supports growth and greatness - a mindset that never settles for less, a mindset that sees challenges as stepping-stone, a mindset that never quits. It is from what you have resolved in your mind that your actions are formed. If you think greatness, then greatness will become attainable.
Another point here is to have a goal or a dream, and make it clear and void of ambiguity. When setting goals, you need to observe certain criteria: your goal needs to be smart - that is, something that is relatable and relevant. It should also be measurable - that is, ability to know how far you have gone with it and when it becomes a reality. For example, instead of having a goal of becoming skillful, it will be better to specify the skill - like saying you can acquire a tailoring skill, a painting skill, etc. When your goal becomes as specific as possible, it becomes easier to achieve, which leads to greatness. You can also break the goals into fragments to make it easier and more convenient to be achieved.
What also gets you prepared for greatness is education and continuous learning. When you stay informed in a particular field, it becomes easier to excel and succeed in the field. There is no substitute to learning, as long as you want to achieve greatness. The more you know, the more you are on the pathway of achieving greatness. You will agree with me that when you do what you know or what you have learnt extensively, it is usually easier than when you do what you are ignorant about. This is why you have to go for more learning. You have to understand that education will definitely come at a price, but this will be what will open you up for the prize. When you make the sacrifices to acquire learning, it will not be a waste because it will make you better.
As part of your learning processes, you also need to learn from the people who have succeeded in the particular field that you are in. When you observe them and take note of what made them to achieve greatness, then apply the same, you will have your own opportunity to achieve the same. What you have to understand is that, no one achieves greatness by being in isolation, you will definitely need the input of the people who have gone ahead of you. The relationship and interaction you have with people is a very big opportunity to gain the knowledge that you need. Everyday you live, and as you meet people, there are always lessons to learn and knowledge to acquire to make you better.
The last point is to take ready actions. No matter what you think and the kind of dreams you have, and no matter the kind of help that you are able to build, the bulk of the responsibility lies on you to take actions. It is the actions that you take that will produce results, not what you have in your mind nor what you hope to get. In addition, it is worthy to note that, no matter the kind of help that someone is willing to offer to you, you will still need your own individual input in order for you to achieve greatness. You cannot achieve something of value by being solely dependant on someone but by assuming responsibility on your own.
